Brussels + Bruges

Last weekend I went to Brussels and Bruges with
birgit85 and my Mexican buddy
vee_mountbatten and her mum. We had a really great time together again. I felt really sad when she had to go back to Mexico.

Saturday 3th June

I took the bus at 8.20am and I arrived at the station in Hasselt at 9.00am. Bee already took a train in Genk. She arrived in Hasselt at 9.08am. Then we took the train to Brussels. We arrived in Brussels-South at 10.30am. I printed out a map of Brussels and we started looking for the hotel Vee and her mum were staying in. We walked 60 minutes and we were exhausted when we finally saw the hotel. The sun was shining and it was very hot! We met up with Vee and her mum and then we walked around a little bit in Brussels and went to a restaurant. Vee and Elsa weren’t hungry because they ate a lot during breakfast but me and Bee already travelled for 4 hours so we were hungry! We ate pizza in an Italian restaurant. Afterwards we took the metro to “Brupark”. We first wanted to visit Mini Europe. I had already been there when I was a kid but it was really amazing to see it again. All those miniature monuments were very impressing. We walked around there for an hour I think and before we left we entered a shop. We were all in a crazy mood, so I bought a keychain with a little bear with the name Julio (Julio from ReiK!) and Vee and Bee bought one with Hugh on it! Haha! Vee and her mum were getting hungry so we all went to the “Quick”. That’s a fast food restaurant. Bee and Vee were still very crazy so they ordered a kids menu to get a free “X-Men” bracelet. Then we went to the Atomium. There was a very long queue, but we had plenty of time. When we finally got into the Atomium, a lift took us to the upper ball. The view there was amazing! Then we went down with the lift again and took the stairs to get to the other balls of the Atomium. When we went outside we immediately went to the cinema. I wanted to see a Spanish movie (I’m addicted to everything that’s Spanish) and I thought Vee and her mum would like to hear some Spanish again… We saw the movie “Volver”. I thought it was quite a dramatic movie but Vee couldn’t stop laughing! Afterwards Elsa told me that she thought it was a good movie and that it was great to hear Spanish again. Then we wanted to have dinner. I really wanted to eat in that restaurant we passed when we entered Mini Europe because I saw that they served “Calamares”. That’s my favourite food! So I ordered some Calamares with french fries… Mmmmm delicious! Bee ordered pan cakes and Vee ordered something else (I can’t remember what it was). Her mum never eats dinner. She told me you get fat when you eat dinner. :p After a super delicious dinner we went back to the subway. I and Bee took a metro to Brussels-South and Vee and her mum had to take another one to go back to their hotel. When I and Bee arrived in Brussels-South we took the train back to Hasselt. We arrived at midnight and I called my dad to pick me up.

Sunday 4th June

I woke up at 8am. I was still very tired because I went to bed at 1.15am. I can’t take a bus on Sundays so I asked my dad if he could bring me to the station in Hasselt. I arrived in Hasselt at 9am and I and Bee took another train to Bruges. We told Vee and her mum that we would meet at the station in Bruges. While we were sitting in the train to Bruges, some Spanish people entered the train in Leuven. Omg! This Spanish woman said to me: “Hay alguien aqui?” She pointed at the seat next to me. I was so excited that I understood what she said! I said:”No”. And then I said: “Hablamos español tambien.” And she understood me! Whoooooohooooo! When we arrived in Bruges we immediately saw Vee and her mum. We went outside the station and walked on foot into town. I was really surprised that the shops were open, because in Belgium all the shops are closed on Sundays. We shopped a little and I saw a lot of stuff from Spain but most of those things were just rubbish so I didn’t buy anything. Then Vee and her mum wanted to go on a bus trip with the city tour bus. I thought it was very boring and I and Bee slept a little in the bus. But Vee and her mum were very excited about everything they saw. When the tour was finished (finally!) we went to a chip shop and ordered some french fries. I ate the sandwiches my mum bought, because I’m broke after these trips (London, Brussels and Bruges). I did buy an ice cream with chocolate flavour and strawberry flavour. Then we shopped a little bit more, took some pictures, talked a lot and walked back to the station. We took the train back to Brussels-South and then the metro to Vee’s hotel. They collected their suitcases and we took the metro back to Brussels-South. There we ate in the “Quick” again. Unfortunately for Vee and Bee, they were all out of “X-Men” gadgets. At 7.45pm Vee and her mum checked into the Eurostar back to London. There they had to take a flight back to Mexico. It wasn’t nice to say goodbye. But we told each other we would meet again one day. We hugged, kissed and said goodbye. Then I and Bee took a train back to Hasselt and my dad picked me up again.
