It's Magnetic...

So, it's been a little bit again, and things have been busy... but they've been good.

This past weekend, my wife came to me with a request... she wanted me to make her something that she had seen on a friend's blog site (http://deannadyck.wordpress.com/), so, thanks to her friend, I set out with an idea in my head, and went out to Michael's to figure out what I could do.

The basic idea was magnets that would enable easy meal planning and grocery listing (I think I'll stick with that... rather than "I'm writing a grocery list", I'll say "I'm grocery listing"... got a nice ring to it...)

I sat there in the store for about 5 minutes, a roll of magnetic tape in one hand, and a box with three 8 1/2 x 11 magnetic sheets in the other, trying to figure out which one would yield the best results... I finally settled on the sheets, because (a) there were three of them in the box, for the same price as the tape, and it was WAY more magnet when you worked it all out... and (b) you could run the sheets through the printer, and avoid having to write it all by hand in block letters.

The end result? Check out the pictures.

A shot of most of the "grocery" magnets...(you can see I've already had to add some things we forgot in block letters)

So, whaddaya think? I was happy with them... thought they turned out great... and as I think of new things, all we've got to do is add them. Really simple to make, really fun to play with. =P

Also, I've got an interview/meeting to look into a possible new job tonight... hoping that goes well, and we'll see if it is something that God has in the works for us to enable us to find a place to live once our lease is up here. With the baby on the way, it just makes sense to try find a two-bedroom place, simply for the space. We were given a few baby things (play pen, rocking swing, and a little seat), and they already take up a lot of space. The kid itself may be small, but the stuff is huge! =P Anyway, we'll see what comes out of this, and we're walking into it knowing that God will provide one way or another. He always has, and always does. It blows me away. I've already seen enough evidence of it in our year-and-8-months of marriage to convince anyone, yet sometimes I still doubt. Silly me.

The house is clean--I've managed to keep it that way for quite some time now. I'm kinda proud of that fact. It feels nice to be on top of things and not walking into your house always feeling like there's a mess hanging over your heads. I think it's relaxed both of us a little and allowed us to really enjoy the time we DO have to just sit and relax--and to actually use it sitting and relaxing. I think we all need some of that.

My wife is feeling quite a bit better now, which is a relief for both of us... although there are still some smells that really set her off wretching, and it can be a little frustrating at times having to deal with being so careful with smells and all that other stuff. She's also at the point where lifting and bending is starting to be a problem, so that means more of that for me, and less for her... Oh well. She's uber-cuddly at night, and that makes it all worth it! ;-)

It seems like it's forever yet until the baby's here (I think we're at 17 weeks?)... but I know it'll be on us before we even know it. I'm enjoying this time of preparation, and this time of getting used to the idea of a kid in the house... it's still such a weird thought, and it probably will be for a while... even after the kid's born. But, as my friend Jeff said the other day when I made a comment that was kinda jokingly freaking out: "You know you're looking forward to it, Sam". It's true. I am. Scared out of my mind? Absolutely. Looking forward to it? You bet, Tibet!

Blessings,
Hobbes
