A little blog is okay

Hobnose is okay in her apartment in Bloomington IN, but we don't even want to bark about snow any more, kind of tired of it. Hob's Zil Afgana will blast right through it.. :) Actually we have been barking about trains a lot, and maybe that means something, like maybe we are thinking of travel and getting together some time, or at least thinking about it, if this weather would get out of the way. I sent her a picture of a huge evil train with horns on it, and the caption on is says 'It hasn't any brakes'

I watched an episode of Top Cat tonight and it was cool, it was episode 1 from I think 1961, and Top Cat and his friends get on a vacation ship to Hawaii and find a counterfeiter and his money. That's a very innocent show based on seeing that one episode, less rumpus going on than the Flintstones or even Pink Panther. Putting that side to side with Family Guy, would show how far cartoons have come along in all of that time.

I also watched Where The Wild Things Are. I heard that it was out and that Spike Jonze's name was in there somewhere, but other than that I didn't know much. I had never even read the book that it was based on, where on reviews it seemed like every other kid has. Really I just didn't pay attention, seeing one picture in passing with the monsters and thinking Pixar and Monsters Inc.

A few weeks ago I saw a Wild Things poster of a kid in a jammie type Wolf costume next to a monster, and was barking about it with a movie fan friend, and the poster made me want to check it out, and I did, and I really liked it, a journey into imagination. In reviews it's pretty divided, if someone read and loved the book, they probably didn't like the movie, but if they never read it (like me) they were fair game to be taken over.. :)

In the story, Max is a kid having some troubles with his sister and mom, not really getting enough attention. After a fight he runs away and sails to an island of monsters and becomes their king, in his Wolf suit, and even all howl together.

I'm wisely, I think, not barking any more, you only could understand if you see it for yourself. It's one of THOSE kinds of movies where you're not being walked to the conclusion singing the Daisies theme song along the way.

Opek, a local band that plays a more progressive jazz is going to be playing at Club Cafe this friday night, and Bruce and me should be doing video. It's their 10 year anniversary concert, so it should be interesting, and I imagine there would be some some looks back at the band's history, but with Ben Opie, the band leader, you never know.
