Running up that hill

On Tuesday we went to the thrift store for a candle making kit that Hobnose had seen and wanted to try. It's had beads of wax and a wick, and you just put the wick in and fill the jar with the beads and it makes a candle, no cooking the wax or anything.

Next we went to Dollar General for batteries, and I got a big bottle of hand soap for our paws. It's the color red and pomegranate flavor, and has a nice scent for a cheap soap. After that Hob wanted to go to the Red And White thrift store on Saw Mill Run, because we have been having such lucky computer finds, but they aren't like Community at all, it seems that they just have working systems in the window for sale and that's it.

We wanted to use the candle kits when we got home, and made two, but needed another jar for the last one, and set out to Houndman's to look for it. Houndman's shack was along the tracks, and there used to be houses there, and there are lots of jars just laying in the woods for the taking.

It's Hob and Boom that we can head for a place and find something else that's interesting, get side tracked and never make it. This time Hobnose wanted to go up a big hill along Green Tree Road, and we climbed it, and the Collie didn't know it, but it was just the parking lot of Parkway Center up there, and that was a surprise.. :) It's something that you can't see from the street, it just looks like the top of the mountain from there.

We were right by Chicken Hill so we walked up and saw a couple of Dogs, a Lhasa Apso, a Border Collie, and a speckled Pit Bull where Sadie the Collie mix used to live. At the top of the hill a kid at a house said 'It's the Dog lady', ran inside and put on a monster mask and came back out in the yard and made a growling sound. I can see that it's getting close to Halloween.

It was starting to get dark about that time and we had to go back to get ready for the Keystone Oaks school homecoming bonfire they were having in Green Tree Park at dusk. Werevereen wanted to go, so we all walked up. There were hot Dogs and cookies, and we didn't have money, so I went back home to get some.

On the way out a group of students started to ask me about being a Dog, but I didn't want to woof to them for too long. When I was coming back they saw me again, and I met their friends for a few minutes. Some of them were at the skating party at Ice Castle earlier in the year, I thought that was them. I had to get back so Hob could have her cookie, and then we watched the fire, a stack of pallets and the hay that was used to sit on for the concerts at Octoberfest. We were sitting 50 feet away at least, but the fire was still almost too hot, and they has fire police with hoses around for safety too.

We watched for a little while and woofed about things, and some of the students who asked me about being a Dog came over, and got to meet Hobnose too. We barked for them and Hob got in sit position on a little hill. As we were leaving a group of them were following us all the way out of the park. Nothing bad happened, it was just kind of weird, but we have fun being Dogs. Tailie fun!

It was trash night in my area finally, and we put some stuff out, and I loaded three printers into the car and some other stuff to take to the thrift store. It was late by then and we almost gave up on going out trashing, but I wanted to take the printers down to get rid of them right away, so Hobnose came along, and we were just going to check a few streets of trash going and coming. The printers were dropped off, and we started to trash and found stuff right away, from an electric lawn mower to toys and a few TVs, and we went to the thrift store and dropped most of that stuff off.

Wednesday we all went to the thrift store to look for a stuffed Spitz type plush and a Compaq Presario 7000 that we had seen the night before, but they weren't out on the floor yet. Hobnose got a 'Terrible Shirt' a version of the Terrible Towel that sports fans wave in the stadiums here. We also got a jar to use for the candle.

We went to BP after that and got our sandwich special, then out to the hotel that Furry Weekend had been held, so that Werevereen could get the feet for his costume that had been left there. Werevereen is really making lots of friends in Furry lately since he's been back up North.

Have a rainy day.. :)
