Cities of trees

So here is the grand summary, the brief overview of what I have been up to for the past little while. I'll try to be brief. Spring break was fantastic, although I didn't do nearly as much sleeping as I had planned, or writing of papers. Or anything scholastic at all. I did, however, see a lot of friends, have lunch with Aaron, get my hair cut, dye my hair, and apply for a new passport. And drink guiness and watch 24 and Brick (what a good film! have you seen it?).

Coming back from spring break, I went to see a free concert with some friends, and then went to Shaun's place for to play some Wii!!!! It was so good. I sort of love Wii. And we had cocktails! I love cocktails. It was a really good night, and I had a radio show (and Jason stayed for most of it, and Shaun listened to all of it. I heart boys!).

Last week was alright; I was tragically unscholastic for most of it. I did, however, manage to write my 6 page research paper before it was due on Thursday. This means I'm done with my International Studies seminar class for the rest of the semester! Hooray for having 4 or 5 more hours of time every week. Arabic has been fun, too, because I'm a dork. I applied for this new Arabic Flagship Program, which gives you tons of money to study Arabic, and sends you on various intensive study trips. If I get accepted, it'll mean doing intensive Arabic here at UT over the summer. I'm not sure how I feel about this--they'll pay for it, which is good, and maybe give me an additional stipend, which is even better...AND by the end of the summer I'll be at 2nd year Arabic proficiency, which will be good for me AND good for going to AUC (if I end up being able to go...that's a whole different story). But it'll mean that I won't be at home for some or all of the summer. Boo to that!!! But I won't count my chickens before they hatch or whatever.

I'm considering trying to study abroad in London spring semester next year (in addition to hopefully being in Cairo in the fall). I think this is a fantastic idea, but that is just me. If financial aid and everything will cover it, and if I can get course credits, I am totally going to do it. Awesome?! I don't even know what school I'd study at, but that can be worked out.

This weekend was great; Friday I threw a cocktail party at my friend's apartment. It was really everything I hoped for and more! The people who came were like one third AIESECers, one third people I didn't know, and one third my friends. We had streamers and balloons everywhere, cocktails of all sorts, no gross mixers (like coke or sprite), and lots of fun. Good music, dancing, no furniture, lots of fun. I spent lots of time talking to my friends, some fun time on the balcony, and then somehow made it to my radio show in one piece (thanks in no small part to Chris). And Chris and Shaun stayed with me the whole time, and then we ate pancakes! Did I mention how I love boys?

Yesterday was the International Consulars Ball, which AIESEC always volunteers at. This basically means I got 3 hours of sleep, wanted to kill myself for the first half of the day, spent a LOT of time with AIESEC kids, managed a silent auction, wore heels and a fancy dress for like 6 hours, mingled with a lot of consuls and Important People, got to take a flowery centerpiece home with me, salsa danced with my friends, and generally had a great time. It was a really busy couple days, though. And last night, I finally slept!

I have to go correct some Arabic homework now, because I am a little behind in that department. Behave yourselves, and have a good week!
