gaming of two sorts. just one sort.

this would normally be 2 posts, but it's all the same tags so I'll do it as one.

We'll start with DDO. I've got about 8 hours in now, and i've decided I'm enjoying it. From what I see so far the combat system really is the best of any MMO on the market. Very interactive and specific, and it takes time to get used to it. It appears, so far, that you could, if you wanted, Solo the entire game, which particularly appeals to me. Everything I've done so far is PvE and PvP hasn't been an option. the world seems to work like this- anywhere there are mobs, you enter that space alone or with your party, no other players about to steal your kills. so far I haven't seen a single mob drop anything, all loot has been in barrels, crates, vases, or treasure chests, but that hasn't stopped me from amassing a decent amount of money and some pretty decent starting gear. At least I think it's pretty decent, anyhow. difficulty- I've died once in 8 hours, and that makes me believe that later things will scale up. Dungeons also have this sliding difficulty scale, from Solo to Elite with Normal and Hard in between. Hard and Elite are only available to parties. The difficulty scale changes the number of mobs, their AC, Damage, and attack modifies and the difficulty of the puzzles. Oh! There are PUZZLES! I LOVE games with Puzzles. I even found a puzzle that took me a whole 4 minutes to figure out. The movement is a bit hard to get a handle on but once you've got some practice it's not so hard. the UI blows, having only 10 hotkeys at a time for skills, spells, weapon changes, ect, but they do give you 20 sets of them. just got to get used to surfing them quickly. i'm going to continue playing.

And y'know... I think I'm just going to post about DDO right now. I don't feel like talking about my campaign atm, I'm too tired. Game ended at 4 am and I got called in to work this morning. had to be in by 10.

work for life, rollin' with 20s, d&d, geekdom
