Keep Me Posted

Mar 07, 2006 19:58

Get it? Because it's a post! This would also work on a fence post, or on a sign that is in fact posted. I suppose if the captain of a ship or the leader of a spy organization wanted to make a point, he could wear a sign like this, especially if people haven't been keeping him posted about stuff.

I guess not a whole lot has happened since yesterday, but I sorta felt like updating. This is probably a mistake, as updating when nothing much has happened can lead to only one thing: a post that sounds an awful lot like most of the rest of livejournal.

That said, it's going to happen anyway. I've decided that my brain hates me. Whether it's causing me to hate entire states and institutions of medium-to-higher learning because of some thin connection or recalling uncomfortable scenes from films based on Neil Simon plays at inopportune moments, it does not seem to have my best interests in mind. Hah, "in mind." Because it's my brain. That's not actually a joke.

Today I was looking around last.fm and decided to look at the people who were considered "fans" of The Mountain Goats. I used to think it was a little odd that Scarlett! has listened to Rilo Kiley as much as she has (maybe twice as much as the second-place band). However, I found someone who had listened to The Mountain Goats about 2500 times. Second place? Devendra Banhart with about 500 plays. That's just bonkers. That said, The Mountain Goats are the best thing ever. Or rather, John Darnielle is the best thing ever. If he and Ryan North and Joanna Newsom somehow became one person... that would... be a... cool... person... or something.

In parting, I've decided that it might be kind of fun to start saying "I shall return" when I mean "Goodbye." It would be a fun example of siezing on one aspect of the meaning of a word and using that to replace the true meaning.

More finally, in a couple of days, you should go to Songfight! and listen to Prime the Phunt! Boil the water. Escape!! with "Clouds Were Touching the Ground." It's weird.

I shall return.
