In hopes of generating discussion again, I'm offering up a new topic of discussion, something that kinds of stems from a discussion saphy and I had. ^^

Although Remus/Minerva is not destined to end badly, like an pairing with Sirius pre-OotP (or even pre-PS) or a pairing with Snape, as we get further and further into the series, I find that in my opinion, a tragic ending to this pairing is more likely than a 'happily ever after' ending.

I could write a long essay about it, but I'd rather generate a discussion, so I'll make it brief:

Even if both live through the war (which is possible if not likely), it seems as though a 'happily ever after' is not waiting for them at the end. I think both would be disappointed with the way the Wizarding World views Remus even after all his efforts in the war. I think people would be horrified that a woman in such a position of power as Minerva would 'lower herself' so much as to be involved with a werewolf.

By tragic ending, I don't neccesarily mean death (though I think it may be likely). If both of them live, I tend to think Minerva would lose her position and would be cast aside like Remus. She no longer has Dumbledore and his power and prestige to protect her at Hogwarts.

Also, even if THIS doesn't become an issue...how long is Remus going to live, really? Can he really go through transformations at 60 when he has such a hard time at 35-40? I definitely don't see Remus living to become Dumbledore's age.

I certainly am not saying that I don't find a happy-ending Remus/Minerva impossible or unbelievable (and I enjoy them greatly!)...it is just that lately, I feel that it's not the most likely course.

Anyone else have thoughts? (Pleeeeease?) XD
