A couple of my friends here on LJ posted a Douglas Adams quotation (NOT quote, damn it) as part of a meme wherein I am supposed to post a Douglas Adams quotation in my LJ after seeing the meme. I am posting three quotations that are attributed to him and I have never even made it through "The Hitchhiker's Guide..." let alone any of his other books. I find him quite quotable, if not quite readable.
'Stotting' is jumping upward with all four legs simultaneously. My advice: do not die until you've seen a large black poodle stotting in the snow.
Anything that happens happens, anything that in happening causes something else to happen causes something else to happen, and anything that in happening causes itself to happen again, happens again. Although not necessarily in chronological order.
I'd take the awe of understanding over the awe of ignorance any day.
