Weeks late, so it's nowhere near the con site (it's somewhere near Canary Wharf instead), but the good thing about that is that it's actually pretty fucking cheap (and probably horrible, but never mind that, I'll be at the con all day anyway ( Read more... )

Yes! I'll *probably* be in London for Worldcon (my first since 2005), but really only for that, because technically I can't even get those five days plus two days travel time off from work (disadvantages of being really new at a company: you can't get much time off yet....) and I'll have to give them the entirety of the rest of "my" August to get those days (and also, I don't even know yet if that will work - will only find out in a week or two). Uhm... I haven't looked at the programme yet, will have to do that before I can say if/when I'll be available on any evening. Worldcon is notoriously packed with programming (there's usually around 12 programmme tracks at any time of day, except for the later night hours and very early morning, and I'm usually interested in at least three or four of these, lol) - but I do have to eat, too, after all, and thus may want to take breaks. ;-) I have to check the programme, though.

Not sure my job merits any congrats, really - it's the kind of sad, dead-end one that people who've failed at everything else get. (Answering phones at an insurance company). But, it's money coming in regularly, and it's only mildly evil, so...
