In preparation of the M.A. rollercoaster...

... which is bound to get me stressed out enough as it is, I have, for the first time in years, sorted through all the stacks of random paper on my desk and shelves, reducing them as nearly to non-existence as possible; taken care of a huge bunch of leftover Important Paperwork; bought a card index box in which to sort all the little scraps of paper on which I keep scribbling my brain spillover, and done the same with all larger papers and a couple of ring binders. (This required creating somewhat idiosyncratic categories such as "memories and sensations", "phrases to avoid", "strange words"... For years I've kept all this stuff in one big, headaches-inducing stack - all kinds of paperwork, uni notes, fanfic notes, meta notes, random observations ("Oh Lucius Vorenus. So prim, so proper, so principled...") and whatnot. But I needed to get a *real* overview of everything before I take the plunge into my thesis. I need to get rid of all the distracting clutter in my life, or I'll go mad over the course of the next year.)

I've also updated my To Do List, and - apart from the M.A. work - it is shorter than it has been in years.

Feels good.
