Metafandom; and a question.

Maaaan, I didn't realise how much I missed metafandom and the way it expands my mind...

And, speaking of meta - does anybody know what happened to cathexys? I hadn't gotten around to catching up with her LJ yet and then, just when I wanted to start, it was suddenly gone. I know I've been out of the loop for ages, and I wasn't really close friends with her or ( Read more... )

There's a short note in isiscolo's LJ here. Apparently she just had to step away from LJ for a while.

Oh dear, metafandom...

I think, there's a certain addictive quality to it. Personally, however, I'm never quite sure whether to read and enjoy, or to stay away and ignore. For some reason, I don't feel all that comfortable with the amount of fannish navel-gazing going on at that place. While some of the essays and rants are extremely well thought through and definitely worth reading, an awful lot of the stuff that is being posted there simply isn't (at least in my opinion ;-)).

Also, metafandom never fails to make me realise how desperately out of touch I've become with today's fandom. I don't share people's utter fascination with slash, don't fancy any 'OTPs', don't obsess over [insert politically correct topic of the day].

I fear this makes me quite a bit of a hopeless dinosaur, doesn't it? ;-)
