Outtakes!!!

“Cut, Print!” an excited voice called out. Malcolm looked away from Night to smile at a man seated in the center of the large room. The man’s brown eyes sparkled as he jumped out of the chair. “That’s a wrap, folks!” he added. Grinning brightly at Malcolm, he said, “Trenton, you were marvelous! We are gonna call you ‘one-take Trenton’ from now on!”

The red-haired actor stood and smiled faintly. “That’s going a bit overboard, Genji,” he murmured shyly. Blushing, he said, “But thank you, just the same.”

The director, however, wasn’t listening. Still excited, he turned to Night and said, “Nicco! You were terrific! They’ll never guess that you’d never acted before.”

“Thank you!” the young elf said, grinning brightly. He barely had a chance to get the words out of his mouth, before his attendant began helping him clean the stage makeup off his face. “Orphan,” he giggled, “let me get the glasses off first.”

Genji chuckled softly and turned to Kawena, ruffling her hair. “Sorana, honey, you were an absolute doll!” The child giggled and then scampered over to her mother, who was waiting for her behind one of the large cameras.

Waving at the remaining actors, Genji said, “See you all at the cast party!”

As he swept out of the studio, a man with chestnut hair scampered after him. He paused briefly at the door to call, “Don’t forget, we start filming for season two in three weeks!” He grinned brightly and added, “I’ll have the first scripts out by tomorrow.”

Nicco smiled at Trenton and the other actors. “Does he ever take a break?” the elf asked, tilting his head to one side.

Oliver shrugged. “An actor works from sun to sun, but a writer’s work is never done,” he said sagely.

“You’re right on the second part, Celyn,” Laurel said, chuckling. Then she shook her head and added, “But I have no idea what schedule you’ve been looking at for the past few months.”

Trenton smirked. “Yeah, honestly,” he said. Nodding towards the pink-haired elf, he said, “Laurel’s right about that. There were some nights I thought we’d never get done.”

“Because Rowan kept flubbing his lines,” Shoshanna said, her tone light and teasing.

The dragon looked offended and turned to Trenton for support. The redhead chuckled and protested, “Now, Kelly, he wasn’t the only one who missed lines. I seem to recall you calling Oliver ‘brother’ quite a few times.”

“Yeah, well,” she replied, shrugging. Grinning, she ruffle the teal-haired elf’s hair. “Celyn is my brother.”

“But,” Nicco pointed out, “Oliver is not Shoshanna’s brother.”

“Anyway,” Laurel said, waving her arms slightly. “Let’s get out of these costumes and take off the makeup, so we can get to that cast party!”

“Right,” Trenton agreed, “before Genji and Ezra drink all the good wine.” The actors laughed and then headed backstage to their dressing rooms. Trenton paused at the edge of the set and smiled. “Three weeks to relax,” he murmured. He looked up at the man who’d played both Artemis and Apollo Desmond and asked, “What are you going to be doing during the break?”

Chris laughed and shook his head. “Sleeping!” Laughing, the two actors left the stage. They had a party to get to.

Outtakes: You Save Me

“Where the hell are you from?” Malcolm asked, chuckling faintly. The accent was unlike any he’d ever heard before, but had an almost musical cadence. He also wanted to ask what Phoenix was as well, but decided that would probably be rather rude.

“I am dragon,” Phoenix said, grinning brightly.

“Are you now? Just what is it that you’re dragging?” Malcolm replied, quirking an eyebrow at the dragon. When Phoenix gave him a confused look, he grinned brightly and said, “Are you sure you aren’t a dragon?”

“I say that,” Phoenix said, shaking his head. Malcolm shook his head and the dragon grinned sheepishly. “I forget my particle?” When Malcolm nodded, he chuckled and said, “Sorry! I will remember now.”

Night scampered across the room and sat down opposite his human friend. “Trenton,” he said, his voice warm. He froze when the investigator scowled.

Blinking confusion, Malcolm said, “Trenton?” He grinned innocently and said, “Night… who’s this Trenton person? Have I met him?”

Night smacked the human on the arm and whirled away. “I cannot believe I called you Trenton,” he complained. Stepping up onto the stage, he then turned and scampered across the room once more. Smiling warmly, he said, “Malcolm! It’s good to see you here!”

Artemis Desmond rocked slowly back and forth, his fingertip running along the edge of his knife. His eyes flicked over to his prisoner and he smiled faintly. “So,” he whispered, quirking an eyebrow at Malcolm, “do you think little Kaylen will arrive before or after I’ve removed your lovely hands?”

The investigator’s eyes narrowed and he turned away from the blond man. His gaze locked onto the wall of the old-fashioned log cabin in which he was being held prisoner. He heard Desmond stand and tensed, preparing himself to the impending torture he was about to suffer.

Just as long fingers wrapped themselves around his hair, the door burst open. “Desmond,” a surprisingly loud voice called.

Malcolm looked up in surprise, then blinked as Phoenix shifted from his dragon form to his human one. “Desmond,” he repeated, his brows drawing together in anger. Suddenly, the golden eyes took on a vacant expression. Turning to Malcolm, Phoenix said, “I forget line. How is line go?”

“Why are you asking him?” Desmond asked, releasing the man’s hair. He stood and rolled his eyes. “Honestly, do you think he can answer you?” He shook his head and said, “I’ve had him tied up and gagged since scene fifty-four or so. He can’t even talk.”

The dragon blinked and then scuffed his foot sheepishly. Turning to the blond man, he asked, “How is line go, please?”

“Desmond,” the man said, in a perfect monotone. “You will not hurt him. I will not allow it.” Looking vaguely amused, he said, “Sound familiar?”

Nodding brightly, the dragon said, “Thank you!”

“Now go back out and come back in,” Desmond said, waving a hand at the dragon. Kneeling beside the investigator and taking hold of his hair, he added, “Try and get it right this time.”

“Yes!” Phoenix chirped. Grinning brightly, he stepped back out of the cabin and pulled the door closed.

As Malcolm rode with Night and Phoenix back into town, a thought occurred to him. Leaning over the seat, he asked, “Where did you get this car, anyway?”

“We stole it,” Night answered casually, without taking his eyes off the road. “The guard at the prison left his keys in the ignition, so it was pretty easy.”

“Oh,” Malcolm answered, nodding slightly. Then he blinked as the words sunk in and gaped at the little elf. “You what now?” he asked, sending the other two occupants of the vehicle into hysterically laughter.

Rolling his eyes, the private investigator leaned back once more. “Now you’ve had your fun,” he grumbled. “Let’s do this right?”

“Sorry,” Night answered, trying to sound contrite, but failing miserably as he stifled laughter.

Night practically danced away from the agent and said, “Only one thing could make this more perfect!”

“Oh?” a soft voice said, drawing everyone’s attention. “What would that be?” Malcolm tensed slightly as he took in the golden blond hair and soft, gray-green eyes that were locked on the elf. The man was dressed in a soft cotton shirt of a jewel-toned blue.

Night froze and Malcolm started to stand, nearly falling over when the elf shrieked and threw himself at the human. Unfortunately, the blond man seemed to be caught off guard by the elf’s enthusiasm, and the pair ended up in a heap on the floor.

As the elf broke down into hysterical laughter, Apollo sat up, blushing sheepishly. “Sorry,” he said, setting a hand to his forehead. “I didn’t expect him to weigh… quite so much. I’ll do it right next time.”

Malcolm, fighting not to laugh, helped him to his feet. “Are you alright?” he wheezed.
