Holiday Weekend Update
Mowed today for the first time with the new lawn tractor; took some getting used to, but in general I'm happy with the machine and the job it did. Took me less time than usual, but I kinda hurried through it.
Rushed a bit because I guess we'll do our fireworks tomorrow instead of Monday, the 4th. Seems like Sunday is the only day when everyone can get together here. It's okay with me. People seem to have to work on the 4th, or perhaps have somewhere else to go. So after I mowed, I took a quick shower and made speedy road trip to MO for fireworks. Not as speedy as usual because flooding has closed much of I-29 south of Omaha, but trip on two-lane blacktop highways was okay--if much more crowded than usual. Took about 4 hours round trip. PIcked up lots of large and loud aerial things, Looking forward to it.
Not sure yet if I'll be cooking and entertaining extras; haven't really heard from Larissa--who, I hope, will call tonight and fill me in on what will be goin on.
Temps moderated overnight--only up to 86 today with less humidity. So a much more pleasant world outside. Beats the hell outta 98+ that we've had for last couple days.
Will probably try to catch up with schoolwork Monday--only a few odds and ends left before end of term. Then big push to finish. After that some down time. I'd like to travel someplace, but don't think it'll happen this summer. Oh well, there's plenty of stuff to keep me occupied around here.
