http://urbis.com/hmatt Well, I like the idea of the website Urbis.com
It works like most other "Web 2.0" websites.. you receive points by interaction with others.
In this case I earn points for posting a review and spend those points to reveal what others have reviewed about my work.
There are several things I want to work on with my writing:
- I'm rather clumsy when it comes to making streamlined sentences. I figure I'm just rusty and it will impove over time.
- I want to practice other writing styles. I enjoy the chraracter and story shifting techniques of SLAUTERHOUSE FIVE or any other of Kurt Vonnegut's books. I also enjoy those techniques of the time/space shifting inserts like in the Family Guy when they do a flash-back // or like the sequence in Amelie where they describe the town by using little vignettes. It is a difficult thing to do in writing though; although I rather enjoyed how the town was described by depecting little scenes of people in the 1922 Sinclair Lewis novel, BABBITT
-word recall. I've read that this is the way to improve your memory. Things like crosswords where you have to recall which correct word to use.. I run into this all the time when writing. There are so many words that you just don't say in normal life.
I'll revise that first story about Christmas, but I only wish there was a way to dual-post from there over to LJ.
