Problem with you is you wanna live forever

Yes, I still love anime. Although I don't watch many new titles anymore, you're welcome to check out my account at:

And if you're from my generation, then you know AKIRA was The Anime of the time. Written and directed by Katsuhiro Otomo and adapted from his manga, this apocalyptic cyberpunk thriller was considered ground-breaking in terms of its animation. It was created much like Disney did it, with pre-scored dialogue and more full cels per frame. It's a cult classic and, I daresay, one of the first influential anime to be released in the States.

To say I'm a fan is an understatement. It was one of my first anime viewings, when I knew what anime was by definition, so it's dear to me in that respect. The story and characters really showcase what I consider a good anime to be: dark and thought-provoking, realistic yet reaching towards impossible. And it helped build the early career of my all-time favorite seiyuu Nozomu Sasaki. I consider it a must-see for any animation fan.

Now, I don't usually like the transition from animation to live-action, especially not with media usually so long, involved, and fantastical as anime. BUT:

All I can say is wow! Just, hell yeah WOW! For a fan-made trailer on a rather small budget, this made me squeal with nostalgic fangirl feels! They managed to capture perfectly every single iconic scene from the anime, make it feel futuristic yet gritty, and chose an epic score. I'm impressed! This is fucking amazing!!

Gave me chills to see Kaneda's bike motor-up! And I adore that imagery of Tetsuo standing atop the rubble, with his makeshift red cape (sad, he felt like some kind of superhero with his E.S.P. powers). Classic moment, and brings to life all the emotions I had for the two childhood friends, waiting for their imminent battle.

The one thing I miss from this trailer is the rest of the Capsules, Kaneda's gang. Especially little brooding Kai-I loved that amusing boy! XD Seriously though, I would sell all my organs to sponsor Nguyen-Ahn Nguyen and his cast and crew to make the film in its entirety.

Because let's face it, Hollywood would have screwed it up. They were supposedly making the live-action, but the last rumor I heard was years ago. Leonardo DiCaprio was said to have been helming it, and they'd already announced that Neo-Tokyo would be moved to America (of course-Neo-New York City is kinda redundant, isn't it?) and Kaneda and Tetsuo would be reinvented as brothers (why?). Starring, at one point, Zac Efron and Daniel Radcliffe. Ugh.

So let me ask you guys:

Is there an anime you would like to see made into a live-action, be it film or TV series? If you don't watch anime, how about a comic or Western animation?

While I have to agree with what Tim Frisch of NerdAlert said here if I had to pick a title (not already rumored) I would honestly say Heat Guy J. It's not well known, but it combines elements of science fiction/fantasy, vague mecha and horror, into an urban noir style crime drama. It was fun, fast, and all of the characters were endearing. Plus, I love a good cop show, and the cat-and-mouse between Special Forces agent Daisuke Aurora and Clair Leonelli (mafia boss, figurehead called the "Vampire") was fangirl worthy. If it were simplified and focused on the crime aspect, perhaps stylized in a neo-noir supernatural way, I think it could be dark and interesting as a live.

Although, I keep it no secret I've been yearning for Shoko Ohmine's manga Lunatix to be animated, but I'll settle for a good live-action, too. Something. (By the way, I was happy to see my uncredited translations for the title at MAL is now being used by Baka-Updates, too.)

Western stories, of course I'll hit up the DC lineup and say I want to see Guillermo del Torro's adaption of Justice League Dark, and I'd love the Batman: Battle for the Cowl arc to be animated. The Robins need more screen time and that would be pretty sweet.
