Yesterday, a 50 yr old British man cut his head off with a chainsaw that he put on a timer. They were going to evict him from his flat of 8 yrs as part of a redevelopment program going on in his neighborhood. Rather than accept the 11 different residences the city recommended he decided to do the unthinkable. The number one thought that prevails in my mind is "Christ in a box that was hardly worth killing yourself over". Between my last post and the news of today I've also been forced to realize that (maybe) I don't have it as bad as others, and strangely enough I became a little happy at the thought that nothing in this world will every make my mind go back to the same dark place that this guys went to.
In other news, after being screwed over by AT&T and Dish Network and forced to live without TV for 2 months, Hulu has saved my life by being my last bastion for TV. I was able to catch up on "Chuck" (the Jeff centric episode involving Missile Command and Rush's Tom Sawyer was tits!) as well as "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", "Fringe" and a host of others.
Sadly, ABC has canceled "Pushing Daisies", it's a shame cause I loved this show and it was only getting better. I should have known that it's life was going to get cut short, brilliant shows are almost always canceled before their time ("Arrested Development" anyone?). Oh well, Bryan Fuller left "Heroes" to do "Pushing Daisies" so maybe his return can save that show. Although, I doubt anything can save "Heroes" at this point.
Josh Schwartz (creator/producer of "Chuck", "The O.C." and "Gossip Girl") is developing an "X-Men: First Class" movie about the original team of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Ice Man, Angel and Beast when they were all starting out in their teens. All the movie news sites don't mention "Chuck" and instead focus on the other two shows fueling the geek/nerd/fanboy flames. If anything Schwartz writing on Chuck shows that he has the extensive geek knowledge, humor and ability to write action sequences one would need to handle the X-Men in their formative years.
Everywhere I look I see all this Twilight stuff and it pisses me off. As a fan of vampires I cannot abide by this Mormon woman's take on them (vampires are creatures of the night, they don't go to high school in the day and they have weaknesses that are far more crucial than falling in love with a human) I'm going to avoid this thing like the plague but I know all the overweight tweens/emo girls of the world are probably going to get the grosses up on this turd to "Titanic" sized levels. And that's the problem with the world I live in today, 11 yrs ago the world decided to stop being on my side when it came to just about any and everything and I've been enduring the aftermath ever since. At least I have stuff like the tragedy of that 50 yr old man to keep shit in perspective, otherwise I might be shopping at Home Depot for a Black & Decker Chainsaw myself.

Footnote: They finally green lit Arrested Development the movie. I hope Michael Cerra isn't too busy to be in it.
Footnote #2: True Blood on HBO (which uses legit parts of the vampire mythos) is excellent so I recommend that to any vamp fans that need a relief from these Hot Topic vampires.
Footnote #3: I cannot get enough of this new Star Trek trailer. Holy shit, I think J.J. might save the franchise! Which is ironic considering he's a self proclaimed Warsie (that's a Star Wars fan for the uninitiated).
