Heya! :)

Not a whole lot new going on here... the weather's beginning to warm up here, too, but I expect that we'll get snow at least once more. Snow tires are supposed to be off by today, but I can't afford it until the end of the month, so please cross your fingers that I don't get ticketed in the next couple of weeks. :P (I've gotten away with it before, so I'm not hugely worried, but the possiblity is there.) I'm currently holed up at the Starbucks in our local Barnes & Noble, ostensibly to do my taxes, but I'm farting around online, instead, lol. (They'll get done; I'm pretty uncomplicated, so it doesn't take me long.) Kids are at their father's house right now and my parents aren't talking to me because I won't join their church, so I've been spending time away from home as much as possible lately. Thirty-seven years old and I temporarily run away from home on an almost daily basis, lol... I might hit the Y later and do some time on a treadmill, but I'm having quite a bit of pain this week in my neck/back/arm, so I can't decide if I should or not. (Probably shouldn't, but I'm not getting any more in shape by whinging, and tbh getting back in shape after two months of inactivity is my bigger priority.) I'll be picking up Easter basket things for the kids before I leave here, too-- it's pretty awesome that they're to an age where B&N gift cards are going to be a present they get excited about. ;) They're huge readers, so I'm super proud of that. Tonight, we're going to try to make a "magic" chocolate cake for Easter brunch, which separates into three layers while it bakes: chocolate cake, fudge, and pudding. Everything I'm seeing online suggests it always seems like it's not going to turn out and then it does, so I'm really hoping that's how it goes for us, too, lol.

With the LJ TOS, I wasn't too concerned, either, until I saw somebody make a valid point: LJ now supports LGBQT suppression as per Russian laws, and they're getting money from even free accounts through ad revenue-- it isn't just the paid accounts. That definitely bothers me, even though I run an ad blocker. I guess there's also the possibility that journals and communities which are dormant for six months can be purged, but to my knowledge, that's nothing new. I already had a copy of my personal and fic journals at Dreamwidth, so I've updated those*, and I made a mirror of Zombiehood over there, too. I was thinking of asking if community members thought I should back up some of the RH comms I own, not that they're in use anymore, but just to make sure they don't disappear for one reason or another. Either way, I'm not totally leaving LJ, but I'd be pretty happy to see more going on at DW, where their innate business practices aren't homophobic.

*So, THAT was fun: instead of just importing the new posts since the last time I did that, DW imported my entire journal, all over again, duplicating over 330 posts. There's no fast way that I've found to delete all the duplicates at once, so I've had to do it one at a time. (Unfortunately, I didn't notice that it hadn't imported the comments to the copied posts, and I think I accidentally deleted the version with comments of some posts, so I might have to do this all over again... *dies*) I've found some pretty fun stuff, gotta say-- a couple of memes, the mod threads for the first Intercomm, small moments from when my kids were small... Also found some crappy stuff from when life was kind of sucking. I want to delete those, but at the same time, I got some really wonderful support from friends (some of whom are in this post!! :)) and I don't want to lose that. So, I haven't entirely decided what to do with those. Incidentally, I've been setting up all my old posts with the correct custom lists, so for anyone who claims their openID at DW, you still have control over any comments you've left on my journal posts. If I haven't accidentally deleted the post with comments on it, anyway. :-S

Yeah... how did the cake turn out? Teddy has gotten on a baking kick. If it worked, maybe we could try it sometime. It sounds fascinating.

We're into the third season of The Great British Baking Show on Netflix. Every time we bake something, I make him write a review of our bake in the style of Paul and Mary (for a language arts assignment). Some of them are really funny.

Hiya!

I'm just sending a quick reply to say that I am really bothered by the new LJ ToCs to the extent of possibly deleting my journal. I've accepted them for now so that I can back everything up over on Dreamwidth, and then I guess I'll make a decision. Anyway, it would be good to find RH people over on DW so I'll look you up when I'm operational over there :) (I suspect we already friended each other ages ago when I first set up my DW account, but I'll check!)
