Lovely and delightfully literary. Must admit a wistful wish for the absent Amanda. Perhaps a sequel? ::batts eyelashes::

Oh, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. I'm smiling all over my face (I've always wondered what on earth that meant and now I know). All of this was just delightful. Loved " Everything was on the floor. So was he."

Whoever you are thank you.

Sending messages through books and manipulating Duncan into going to the library is such a Methos thing to do. I like how Duncan gave him a taste of revenge. The open ending leaves me mulling over every book I've read and whether that could be the one, which I assume was the intent. For now, I'm going to nominate "The Art of War."

Given where you started this, I didn't have a clue where you going with it but your story is like the old Christmas balls that were made of an endless ribbon of colored crepe paper - you unwound the ribbon and found random small treasures as you worked your way toward the gift at the center - in Duncan's case, finding Methos at the center of a circular library - in the reader's case, perceiving a Methos with the patience to wait out the distance of time, and who knows how to reengage, provides an authentic sense of his mystery. There are random treasures along the way in this - death as a flash of lightning is perfection, and Duncan reading in bed at night, Duncan being haunted by books, and the Pop-up Kamasutra among others. Well done, you anonymous nog, you.

This was absolutely wonderful. I love the progression through the presents and Duncan's thoughts on them and on their source. And being a librarian, I love where the story heads and ends.
