WELCOME POST TO ALL Y'ALL

WELCOME TO HIGHLANDER HOLIDAY SHORTCUTS, READERS AND WRITERS.

The fest goes live tomorrow! I'll be out of the office in the morning kiddies, but that afternoon, the first slew of stories shall be unleashed like...like...unleashed stories?

Okay. Before we get started, a few notes:

1. On pinch hitting and defaulting: a few people who defaulted before the deadline in November are receiving stories. This was the decided policy. A few people who defaulted before the deadline are NOT getting stories, not because I am wishy washy, but because the people writing them defaulted after December 5th, and I decided not to use a pinch hitter. Likewise, some of the pinch hitters were nice enough to change their plans halfway through to switch recipients as people defaulted, and for that, I am happy. For those who defaulted and then had the writer who was writing for them default as well, I felt no need to replace those stories (wow, was that sentence dense). I had a pool of four possible pinch hitters going into the deadline, and at least one of them was activated. Note that three of these pinch hitters already had stories turned in, so they were doing double duty. So that explains who got stories and who just didn't.

In the end, I had a surplus of exactly three stories I managed to finangle, and so that is why our lovely pinchhitters, settiai, dswdiane, and holde_maid received stories, which I think was how it should be. They did a great job and got in before their deadlines, and some of them even volunteered to do another story, and that's great.

2. Feel free to guess at the identity of the writers! We are not, like some other fests, having a separate guessing time before the reveal. And authors (god I hope you read this), PLEASE DON'T COMMENT TO YOUR REVIEWS, EVEN IF YOU DO SO ANON. I don't want any of those accidental signed in posts, so let's just agree not to respond to reviews. Everyone now knows why you're not replying to say thanks. And of course, if you want to respond after your name is revealed, feel free to go on a commenting spree.

3. I will be compiling a master list of all the stories when they are released to be posted on other sites (which, I hope everyone knows, will be after authors are revealed!), and I will keep it sticky up at the top of the community (if I can ever figure out how to do that). So as the post-holiday season occurs, please email me your links off-community!

And now, some

All of that being said, you all were fun to deal with! This was a lot more hands on than any Lyric Wheel I ever ran, and I had a great time. I enjoyed betaing for many of you (my name is the only one I left in beta credits, not because I'm stuck up, but because I did so many it's impossible for me to give it away! I'll add beta names back in when I do the identities.), and I am sure you all got sick of my incessant emails, especially at the end.

Thanks for being good sports, and if I ever do this again (next year already?), at least the kinks will have mostly been ironed out!

LASTLY, should you have ANY concerns/comments/complaints about the fest, the way it was run, etc, please email me privately at amandr at gmail dot com. I'm more than happy to address anything you might have to say or inquire about.

ETA: Gee! I'm overwhelmed by the thanks! If you want to thank me, and I am touched, really, pimp the fest far and wide! Tell your comms! Tell your lists! Anon commenting is on! Even the non-journaled may read and review! But review my story the most. ;P
