Put-In-Bay: The Cancun of the North

Got back from my mini-vacation! It was so awesome. I got to relax, and bike, and drink, and play UNO, and sit by the campfire, and listen to a thunderstorm in the tent, and tour a winery, and play mini-golf, and shop, and skip stones on the beach... and pretty much just have a nice time with my sweetie. Nowhere we had to rush to, no deadlines to meet- it was really cool. And I love camping! My friends think I'm nuts, but I love cooking meals outdoors. Things just always seem to taste better.

For instance, we tried out my new French coffee maker. It makes absolutely delicious coffee! Probably stronger, but sooo good. It's one of those coffee makers where you just add hot water to coarse ground coffee, and slowly press down the press after you've allowed it awhile to seap. Excellent stuff!

We also tried out my new Lexan portable wine glasses. Worked perfectly. And we tried out S's new lantern hanger- also worked very well. My new Coleman air mattress also worked great, and with the addition of our new air pump (compliments of my friends C & D), was no problem at all to set up.

So all in all, it was a great time, but a few tips: Never go on a weekend. It's probably best to go during the week. That place is exactly like I described, "The Cancun of North". Drunks abound. If you don't like hanging around a bunch of obnoxious people, best avoid the weekends. Also, must keep in mind the best campsites. Always a good idea to reserve them online ahead of time, and to check to make sure your site is LEVEL. (Fortunately, we did do that much.) There were some really bad sites there, with hardly anywhere to put a tent, and the only available space to do so being on a hill. Another tip- if you can bring a bike, do so. Biking around there is the best way to go. Lazy people use golf carts. Hardly anyone bothers with cars.

It was a very cool trip though. And S spoiled me badly, paying for most everything. I felt bad. I tried to pay for some things. A bit late though. I had no cash, so I had to get some out, and wouldn't you know, the only currency the ATMs would spit out were $50 bills. *sigh* Oh well, he didn't complain. I tried to make up for it wherever I could, by cooking awesome meals, and such. Hmm... I think he must definitely love me.

And today was the first day of school for teachers. Just setting up the classrooms and so on. Our classroom is kinda old, but then, so is the school. The neat thing about it is, it has lab tables, desks, gerbils, lots of supplies, a fridge, and a greenhouse! Nice! The teacher I work with is very nice. I like her, she seems pretty cool. I already got a great surprise. She and the teacher in the next room share an office inbetween rooms, and while cleaning out all the old books and supplies, they found all these old textbooks they don't need. They said I could have them if I wanted them! Wow!!! We're talking at least $800 in books here! Several college and teacher edition bio texts. All very nice quality, and fairly new (within the last decade or so). I put them all on the desk they've designated as mine. I wonder if they'll actually let me walk away with these? What a resource!

Anyhoo... stayed at school till a little after 3. Wierd that. I'm used to being stuck at work till 5 or 6 at least. Won't it be nice to get out earlier?! I might be able to regularly attend the gym again! In fact, I'm hoping to tonight! I'm trying to get back on the horse, so to speak... I even went grocery shopping, and got all kinds of stuff for salads, lunches, and breakfasts. I should be good for awhile I hope.

Well, better get going now. I have to see about some bookends...

ttfn!
