Some things Indiana politicians have done this year.

Let me sum it up for you:

They have restricted a woman's right to choose almost to the point where it will be impossible, given a huge bail-out to the company that runs the professional sports stadiums in Indiana (how did these people find themselves with a $47 million deficit anyway???) and gave the go-ahead for Marion County to raise our local taxes again to pay for our professional sports district development...we have a professional sports district? I thought that was "downtown..." where there is so much more than professional sports. Or maybe I am wrong...

Some Representatives rocked it though, and it's always welcoming to be aware that there are good people in office in some cases.

My hat goes off to Representatives Charlie Brown, Vanessa Summers, Gail Riecken and the man who I am proud to say represents me, Greg Porter. And, oddly enough, Ed Delaney really surprised me in a good way this session. He seems totally fine with just doing his own thing.

I also LIKE these two pieces of legislation:

Teen drivers: Teens will have to wait an extra five months to get their driver's licenses, and ditch their cell phones once they are behind the wheel, under legislation that won passage in the House on Wednesday. The bill passed 93-6.

Rail system study: The Indiana Department of Transportation would get $300,000 to study the feasibility of a Chicago-to-Evansville passenger rail system under House legislation cleared Wednesday.

However, after hearing about reactions in certain parts of the state (see: the Region) about plans made by Regional Development Authorities, I'm not sure how far the rail system will make it. Maybe that's something that will have to be generational...
