Hello everyone!
Further to our earlier post,
pat_t and I are pleased to confirm that
hl_stills will continue. We've spent a couple of days sorting a few things out, and we're now ready to get back into the midst of it all. And on that note, let me give you a quick update.
Firstly: Timing. We're really happy that we've received a lot of fabulous entries for the Amanda challenge. So on that note, we'll be closing the voting shortly. As I'm in the UK, it's easiest for me to close the voting in the morning hours which gives those of you in North America a few extra hours to submit some last minute entries (and my apologies to those of you east of me! I had to find a middleground somewhere).
Ergo, submissions for the Amanda challenge will close at 9:00 a.m. GMT, Saturday, February 27th (which is 4:00 a.m. EST in North America). Voting will be posted on Saturday, the 27th and will run for four days. Voting will close on Wednesday, March 3rd at 9:00 a.m. GMT (which is 4:00 a.m. EST in North America). The results will be published on Wednesday and the new challenge will be posted shortly thereafter.
Secondly: Banners. We are very grateful that two of our members --
arenee1999 and
x5649 have offered to make banners for the winning entries. Thank you so very much. I hope the winners don't mind that their banners will be posted after the results as soon as our volunteers have the time to create their gifts for you.
Thirdly: Speaking of winnners ... As discussed earlier, on a go forth basis, there will be four winners: 1st, 2nd and 3rd (all voted upon by yourselves) and Pat's Choice -- voted exclusively upon by
pat_t. There will not be a further Mod's Choice. However, there may be special categories every so often -- probably once every three challenges: best use of light, best use of negative space, best use of color. The special category will be announced at the same time the challenge is announced so the icon artists will have the option of tailoring their icon towards the challenge or just going with their artistic spirit! And the winner of the special category will be chosen by myself and one other member with whom I'm currently negotiating the judging criteria.
Fourthly: Adoption Post. We're proposing a change to the adoption post. Instead of us posting all of the icons up for adoption, on the day that the winners are announced, we'd like to put up a general post called "Is Your Icon Up for Adoption?". Then, any of the artists who are willing to have their icons shared can respond with their entries *and* any alternates they may have made. Win, win we hope: you still learn who made what and may benefit from other creations!
And I think that's it. Here's hoping you're all happy with our suggestions.
pat_t and I have discussed the upcoming themes and we think you'll be happy with the challenges coming up. We're mixing drama with humour, tv with film -- hopefully something for everyone.
Ergo, here's looking forward to the continuation of
hl_stills!!
