Sharon Cross has created a terrifying future in which Duncan MacLeod has been captured and turned into a programmed "Burn Out Assasin". Methos has reformed the Watchers and is the Founding Father of a space colony.
The characters ring true, and this plot drives you right through the finale. Don't start this novel-length story unless you have time to finish it in one sitting.
Was he a man? His grin twisted into a grimace. His own self doubt made him want to scream. Men have pasts and memories and homes and families, they mate and strive to gather wealth. Men care about their lives and their property. He had and felt none of those things. But he had a name and that name struck fear into the hearts of those that damned him as less than human. He was called Specter. A phantom that mother’s told their children stories about to keep them tucked in bed. An apparition that could walk through walls, and if you saw his face, it was the last thing you saw.
