Poor Nick - he was a actually a fairly interesting character, but everyone seems to ignore him. Which is odd because the nearest equivalent in the original series was Richie, who was maybe the most liked character in the show. It's nice to see a story about him for a change.

This was the first time I've written his POV and it was interesting to try to get into his head, especially considering how Highlander: The Raven ended.

To know Amanda was to know Rebecca. She was such an integral part of who she was and who she aspired to be, that it was almost impossible to believe Rebecca was dead. Amanda kept her memory alive and vibrant with every breath she drew.

Loved that. Absolutely sums it up perfectly.

This was great, you've really done a good job of getting in Nick's head, I think, and this is a really believable beginning to his Immortality - Amanda's Chronicle would remind him what he was missing and learning some of her past would help him forgive her more recent mistakes... eventually anyway!

I also find it very believable that Methos would break his no student rule for Amanda.

Thank you so much for contributing a brilliant story for my favourite neglected character :)

Good story. I'm not overly fond of Nick, but you wrote this well :)

>"A modern translation by Helena Abercrombie, 1917"

This subtitle tickled my fancy enormously! It seemed to bring me the whole stretch of time, the generations of devotion and scholarship, and the character of a 1917 woman Watcher and scholar who would tackle such a thing as Amanda's oldest Chronicle.

Some other lines in "A Watcher's Prerogative" that I quite liked:
  • "Wait, scratch that, he guessed Amanda made that list too."
  • "...he had definitely not formed the impression Amanda's Watcher friend was 'bookish'. Yet, here he was, surrounded by shelf upon shelf..."
  • "I think we're going to need Scotch for this conversation..."
  • "To know Amanda was to know Rebecca."

This story is a strong response to its prompt, and I enjoyed reading it. Thank you for sharing!
