So yesterday I went dim sum w/ my parents and grandma. We got ourselves stuffed so my Dad asked me to hike back home instead of taking the minibus.
The walk/hike was probably around 50 mins - an hour. After walking for about 30 mins, we got to this village part up in the hills. I saw two women on a bridge in front of an abandoned house yelling at something. The house was built right next to a creek channel like a moat with a 3 meter drop.
Upon closer investigation I saw a puppy on the other side with it's leg caught on a pipe. It was against the wall with maybe a foot standing space. The two women was trying to get it unstuck but from the bridge side it was blocked off by a fence and some branches with thorns.
It seemed that the puppy was not gonna get out by itself unless it got unstuck and could moonwalk. That's when I decided to climb along the fence from the outer part and rescue it. There wasn't much water running so as long as I didn't fall head 1st I'd be okay. I got over to the other side, placed a steady hold on the window sill of the house, good thing no broken glass was involved.
The puppy was shaking when I picked it up, I just hoped it won't try to shake me off while climbing back with it in my arm. I got 1/2 way back and I realized I only had one arm. I thought I was stuck for a moment then I realized I could jam my foot under the fence and toe hook for a steady arm switch. Yeah for rock climbing.
The owner climbed across the fence as well and grabbed the puppy by it's neck and brought it to safety. It was so scared it couldn't even walk. The whole thing wasn't dramatic or anything epic, but it was defiantly one of the most rewarding things I've done. I just felt great at that moment, didn't even realized to snap a pic of the puppy until I got home.
