Bizarreries in Hong Kong

Oct 28, 2015 10:52

Hello my dearest readers,

It's been a while. Actually it seems to me that it's been almost a month I've been living in Hong Kong now! So far so good.
What's happened during all this time? Actually a lot of things :)

But before I forgot or all those things become a normality, let me introduce "Bizarreries of Hong Kong" to you.

Some of them you've already seen on my instragram of course.

1) Hong Kong is a hilly place and when your apartment is located quite on a mountain peak (smiling), you will use random commercial centers to get there. Yes, I'm not joking. It is hilarious actually!

For example I used Hopewell Center ...

...  to get this view! (from the greatest airbnb appartment!)

2) In the morning (I'm not sure they do it any other time of the day) a newspaper is purchased with a pack of tissues.

I have several hypothesises why it is so (some of fellow instagrammers helped me to find out):
- Chinese news are a piece of scary thing (can't check it, sorry)
- there is a problem of tissues in local restaurants, they don't give it to you actually (sometimes charge you for it if you ask) so I suppose it's nice to have it with you (on the contrary there is always toilet paper in toilets and toilets are everywhere (think about it, France), just saying... )
- it's a local habit and nobody remembers why  :) (my manager's version), a pretty good version too

3) Sometimes marketing needs to be worked better...

4) Sometimes you need to open your eyes (or ears) to run across a beautiful performance - but that works for any place right?

5) Halloween is everywhere... really...

They started to sell all of this stuff in the beginning of October when I've just got here ..

and it's just a tiny part of it !! so if you love Halloween , you should defenitely come to Hong Kong :)

For me Hong Kong is a spicy coctail of Western and Chinese culture.

Next topic: great restaurants in Hong Kong for you to try and for me not to forget ;)
stay tuned!

asia, hong kong
