SPN 3.06 - Red Sky At Morning

Nov 09, 2007 12:13

This episode was just a PILE O' LOVE. So much so that I woke up this morning and was delighted to realize it wasn't a dream.

(Yeah, I'm still having that dream/real life thing... it would probably help if my dreams were more fantastic in some way - two nights ago I dreamed Rainn Wilson was the drummer for the Apples in Stereo. Nothing else, just the fact of that. How incredibly boring and random. Where are all the sex dreams? I AM DUE. Sigh.) Anyway, I loved the whole thing, but have some point form:

=> "Does that mean I'm out of my deal?" Gah, it's as hard to hear that as it would have been for Dean to say it. Hopeful and angry and frightened, and it totally makes my stomach flip even though I should probably be used to them talking about the deal by now. Oof.

=> Ellen Geer! You know, like, from Harold and Maude? Cuuuuute. (She's the girl who performs hara-kiri after Harold, with the death throes and all. Glad to see she's gotten more subtle in her old age!)

=> Dean's total breakdown when the car is missing, and Sam running to help his hyperventilating ass. Hee! This episode is full of cute.

=> The pattern of every meaningful conversation taking place in the car is starting to really pay off, I think. We're trading off predictability for an important emotional space, and yeah, it's not like this wasn't already an established thing, but they're really pushing it this season and I've been feeling like they're walking the line between legitimately mapping the space the characters inhabit and bashing us over the head with a model of the Impala. I'm more okay with it now.

=> I am so in love with Sam chugging the wine <3

=> Sea lingo everywhere. Cute, cute, cute. "Sea legs", "below deck"... there's more, I'm sure, this was just in the last 4 minutes of my rewatch just now.

=> Bela's smile when she's talking to the guard. In an episode full of cute, I think it takes the whole cake.

=> Really dig the water effects. Especially the first one with the water running from the fingers, but they were all pretty cool. Not that huge a fan of the cheesy Evil Dead moon & cloud effects, though. Well, they probably weren't made of cardboard, so maybe not Evil Dead, but... you know what I mean.

=> I kinda wish the "damaged" line and its retort didn't exist. We get it, guys. Let us draw our own conclusions about Dean:Bela.

=> They should have called up Gordon and the let the creepy ghost guy take care of him!

=> CW once again flipped to City for this broadcast, which means I got no preview for next week. *pouts*

idiot box, supernatural, dreams, oh dean, so much glee
