Sam Winchester, I am calling you out!

It strikes me as especially hilarious that the boys were wearing gloves the one time they intentionally set out to get caught.

What I liked most about this episode wasn't the cute humour or the story twists or the way both of them - not just Dean, dammit - fit into the place. It was that they brought the FBI guy back in an episode that was all about vigilante justice. The ghost was killing according to its own moral code, outside the system. The Winchesters exist outside the system, out of necessity, and it's really neat that they superimposed the two in this way. The blurry line between good and evil and right and wrong has kind of been the theme of the whole season.

I'm psyched that the FBI guy isn't gone. As a way to completely play out the Hendrikson storyline, this would have been relatively weak. As just another installment of the manhunt plot, I like it. I like, too, that when he's around we get to see a little bit from his POV - the camera spends more time with him. And he *is* confused about what's really going on, but he doesn't want to admit it. And it makes him angrier and more dogged.

I really liked Sam keeping his head down, fitting in and commiserating with Randall.

There were some inconsistencies with his character, which I choose to attribute to him just naturally being a bit of a jackass. At first he's reluctant to do the job, but Dean tells him they owe Deacon because he saved John's life in the service, right? Then later on, Sam's like, "We don't owe him *this* much. It's not like he saved our lives or anything." (I paraphrase because I care - don't remember the exact line but I know there was a close-up on Dean because I was half expecting him to tell Sammy some story where Deacon actually did save his life.) Then at the end, Deacon hugs him and says thanks, and Sam says, "Well, we owed you one."

Fickle much? He makes me want to roll my eyes.

See, this is why he's gonna be the evil one. :)

Oh, in case you can't tell (hee) I did like it.
