Whew! I have made it through the (tightly filtered for speed and efficiency) friendslist and it only took me 2 hours!
The weekend was nice, although not very much on the relaxing side, which is always sort of a drag since coming back from any sort of break I end up having squooshed all my days off for the week together at the beginning and now have to work a bunch of days in a row.
Highlights-wise, Friday was Steve Earle, which was actually pretty awesome except for the leagues of drunken idiots howling out song requests. Saturday was following autorickshaw around and workshops and Ridley Bent (a hip-hop country guy whose CD I now own) and The Supers (who played only new songs, and have somehow graduated from my guilty pleasure band to just a really awesome band) and The Sadies.
OMG, how have I never seen the Sadies before? Maybe it's the fact that Dallas Good's microphone is set up to sound like he's freshly risen from the grave, or maybe it's the fact that none of their songs are over two minutes, but I am seriously in love with them and their weirdness. They are mesmerizing.
Sunday was rainy and cold and the festival felt really tiny and deserted. But I had
mcee and there was Dar and this exuberant Cuban band and obscenely teeny cups of coffee and things were pretty good. I took a ukulele lesson from a hot guy in flip-flops (oh noes!!!) and walked away with a pretty blue uke of my very own.
mcee and my mom wandered along the beach and took pictures of dead fish. Or, well, I don't know what MC took pictures of, but my camera is full of dead fish pictures.
MC and I then ditched my parents for Snakes on a Plane, which, I suppose, could never have lived up to the hype. It made me kinda dizzy. It did, however, have its moments.
Monday is effectively a black void as far as my memory goes, except for I went over to
mcee's at night, nearly screwed up her new computer and let her scare herself silly with movies about feral children. Also hung with Basil, who has totally mellowed in his old age, and met Lola and Percy. Although Percy could have done with a little less "meeting". *is traumatized*
Pictures possibly to follow, also possibly Ridley mp3s if there's any interest in hick-hop.
Prison Break was AMAZING, but I'm not sure I'll be able to formulate any original thoughts about it after watching it twice and reading all your reactions.
Just... Linc = MYLOVER!! Just... GUH. What is it about me and Australian people, anyway?
