Backdating means checking the little backdate box so that it doesn't show up on people's friends lists. Fic means fan fiction.

I was slightly uneasy with the thought of my mom (who is on lj) being notified of my latest smutty effort, so up til now whenever I posted a story I would backdate it and then only announce it in communities. But that's unfair to people who've friended me expecting to be notified of a new story.

Hence the new policy.

I don't know! I haven't really posted much of it since December. Only 3 so far this year, actually. Eek.

But yeah, I did backdate it all until now. Because, it's one thing to leave it unlocked and know that eventually my mom (who has an lj) will stumble upon it, but it's quite another to have a lovely little post appear on her friends list (which consists of, basically, me) whenever I post a fic.

And yet, I've just moved into the second option. Gulp.
