I took the bus downtown to meet Greg for lunch today. We're walking along and this bald guy, maybe 27 or so, yells at us, "JAPANESE PEOPLE ARE DYING! WHAT'RE YOU GONNA DO TO HELP? YOU GOT THOSE TRUST FUNDS, GIVE THAT SHIT AWAY!"
First of all, sir, calm your shit. Second, neither of us have trust funds. We do, on the other hand, have jobs. Do YOU? Maybe instead of complaining about how other people aren't donating enough to relief funds, you should ponder on the fact that if your life was in order, you might be able to do more. I guess then you would have to spend less on drugs. Yeah, let's just blame the rich, over-privileged people for everything, just like we always do.
Greg and I aren't even rich, over-privileged people. He grew up on a farm and has worked hard to get to where he is now as an accountant. I am still a student, but I work an average of 30 hours per week and support myself financially, while endeavoring to become fluent in Mandarin, so that I can get a job with the government.
Honestly, just because we are two clean, well-dressed, blonde guys, that doesn't mean we are white, upperclass brats with trust funds. How judgmental. Granted, I judged the bald guy by presuming he is out-of-work and on drugs.
P.S. Japan is a very wealthy, prosperous nation.
