HJ Endures the Hurricane, IV

Sep 27, 2004 10:27

I am safe. All is well here in NE Florida HJ-land.

This time, I was stuck at my parents' house for the duration of the storm. My neighborhood is a flood threat zone or whatever they are called, so I drove across the river and crashed at the parents' house. However, my apartment is apparently on the highest point of the entire neighborhood, because it is just about the only point that doesn't have at least four inches of standing water (levels go all the way up to about eighteen inches, if not more). In fact, the road in front of my apartment, for about fifteen glorious feet, is not submerged. Neither is the driveway.

I wish Semagic had the ability to detect music from iTunes instead of just Winamp.

My apartment also didn't lose power. Go figure. It's older, and in an older neighborhood, than my parents' house. My parents do have a generator, though, which was pretty rad to see set up.

self-actualization, self
