October 26, 2018 - FilmStruck is a streaming service that affordably provided old, rare, arthouse, independent and classic movies and documentaries. Earlier today, Turner and Warner Bros. Digital Network announced that it will be shutting down the service.
- The Criterion Channel, which was on FilmStruck, will obviously be affected and now has to find a new home.
- In a joint statement, Turner and Warner stated, “While FilmStruck has a very loyal fanbase, it remains largely a niche service."
- Honestly, just blame AT&T.
- FilmStruck will be gone as of November 29.
- People on Twitter reacted quite strongly today:

October 26, 2018 Like... I went into
@FilmStruck a little under the weather and before taping anything received a homemade fennel and pea shoot soup, like... these were flesh and blood people who really, truly cared about the work they were doing and the people who made and appreciated film 😢💔

October 26, 2018 This is true BUT FilmStruck had a grander vision and the (shockingly) fortunate position of having resources that actually allowed them to pursue it. If this is truly the end, it’ll be premature and leave us with a “What if....”

@WarnerMediaGrp so disappointed in your decision to shut down FilmStruck. For dedicated lovers of cinema and, more importantly, a resource for burgeoning cinephiles young and old, it is an unparalleled source of lovingly curated films and a document of the art form itself.

Hey
@WarnerMediaGrp I hope you see how many people who eagerly want to give you money are upset about the FilmStruck news. Also I’ve got some serious han about DramaFever myself.

@FilmStruck is going down. It's very sad. I'm gonna have to break open the old laser discs. I have over a 1000 still. Sounds crazy I know. But no more filmstruck boo hoo.

For a film lover, Filmstruck is perhaps the single most beautiful thing to ever come out of the internet. To kill it in its prime is outrageous.

FilmStruck was too good to last. I see it sadly floating away from the charred wasteland that is 2018, Lorax style.

I am heartbroken to say goodbye to
@FilmStruck. But I’m also incredibly proud to have been part of this true labor of love for two & a half years. The intention was born from a pure desire to support arthouse cinema. And it was a great joy to work on.
