Your challenge word for today's drabble is pray. Do with it what you will!

Haylee didn’t pray. She didn’t believe in it. She had always figured that, if there was some sort of a higher being, her life growing up would have been a lot better. She would have had parents that cared about her and maybe even some friends that she could really count on.

She had never been the praying type, but she had prayed a lot once for three days. It was the three days between when she had buried Sy and when his voice first came to her in her head. She couldn’t even remember exactly what she had prayed for, and, if asked, she’d still say that she never prayed. Those days still feel like some fevered dream that she can’t quite remember what happened during.

She was pretty damn sure that she prayed, though. She remembered asking God for…something. It was likely that she asked for Sy to wake up. She had gotten so dependent on him being around that she really didn’t know how to function on her own, anymore. Not that she was doing a whole lot of functioning in the first place.

Thankfully, he did come back. Just…not in the way she intended.

Goddamnit.

Suppose you find the proverbial genie-in-the-lamp. What's the list of your three wishes? Wishing to set the genie free is permissible; wishing for more wishes is the cheater's way out and the genie in question warns that he'll respond to that sort of shenanigans with a thousand camel's fleas infesting your nether regions.

1. To put Sy back in his goddamn body and out of my head. I’m glad to have him around, still, but sharing my head with another person is like…occasionally the worst migraine you’ll ever experience in your life.
…And I just realized that’s my only wish. So I guess I’d wish the genie free with my second wish.

WHAT? I already have an awesome job and a lot of money. The fuck more could I want? Oh yeah! I get to live forever. Seriously, what the hell am I gonna wish for at this point?
