FIC: THE VERDICT

Apr 10, 2010 12:25

I've been smoking crack lately. My daily msn chat with itakoaya didn't help. So..this is the consequence of it. The fic (sans the omake) isn't so cracky, though. :P

For further information, you read the pairing right. The setting is in the future, pre-Future arc.

Title: The Verdict
Author: Chesiere Cat aka Hiyuura
Disclaimer: Katekyo Hitman Reborn! © Amano Akira
Pairing: Byakuran/XANXUS
Rating: PG-13
Warning: Suggestive BL and *cough* sadism *cough*

Screams of terror filled the hallway as a scrawny man in white uniform, fearing for his life, fled - running, scrambling or whatever he could be doing to get away as quickly as possible from this place. The door of the chamber he fled from was left open yet it was less than a minute that it voiced a creak and swung shut as if having a life of its own, leaving the room in the quiet dimness just as it had been before.

Blood-red eyes glared at the now close door. And wordlessly bright orange flame sprang to life, setting ablaze the paper in the owner of the chamber’s grip. The scent of the burned paper filled his nostrils as the paper darkened - from pristine white to brown and completely, to black - charred to crisp. A frown that marred his scarred face deepened.

The sweet fragrance of flower that always came together with the letter he never hesitated to burn to dust; it disgusted him beyond just ‘annoying’ extent.
He didn’t need to read the letter more than once, knowing it would contain the same sweet words that read more like poison as the invitation written there was as enticing as it staked his unspoken wound of pride. Even a man like XANXUS would sometimes have to take time to contemplate matters. And while he was at it, it was a known fact that he would never be in a good mood and should be left, most of the time, to himself.

Unless the finest liquor was to be delivered.

Yet, it seemed one outrageously arrogant boss of a new, rising family thought otherwise.

That bastard Byakuran seemed to think pestering him for the answer, in the long run, would yield the best result. Now he wouldn’t simply think staking one’s wound over and over again would be enough to break the seemingly unwavering resolve, would he? Either that or the bastard was having too much fun annoying the hell out of him.

If it was the latter, even XANXUS had to admit it was a brilliantly effective plan.

He, XANXUS, never appreciated being given flower. Nor a pestering letter that smell very much like it.

He sank deeper into the chair that would later earn him the title of the ‘true king’ after defeating a certain royal descendant. But now he was nothing but a king in his own castle. It had been exactly nine years and ten months after that decisive battle with Sawada Tsunayoshi. As much as he hated it, despised it with all the rage and hatred in his being, he had to admit his defeat.

But it was only his defeat that he admitted. He would never admit Sawada Tsunayoshi as the rightful tenth Vongola.

He hated that kid - him and his ridiculously softness.

The gash from his defeat in that battle would never completely heal…just like all the scars he had would never really fade no matter how many years had passed.

And it seemed that bastard Byakuran knew exactly what to say - or write down - to make it again start bleeding.

Again and again.

It was actually a miracle he hadn’t killed any of the Millefiore messengers yet.

However…

“So you finally show your face, trash?”

It might not be the same for the one sending them.

Flame flickered as those candles in the candlesticks flared up - as if to complement the half-breed king’s anger. The bright orange light illuminated the other’s man figure, revealing the false angelicness.

A castle was never supposed to have two kings. Just like two tigers were unable to share a den. Yet the king of thousand flowers spoke, his voice ever so pleasant:

“My messengers said that you have really short temper so I have to see it myself.”

The white-haired don smiled good-naturedly, hands in his pockets. He looked completely unguarded.

XANXUS narrowed his eyes. Was this bastard underestimating him?

“Or you can just stop sending those stupid trashes.”

Byakuran cocked an elegant eyebrow, looking as if he was innocent of his crime.

Yes, annoying XANXUS was a crime by the rules of the Varia.

“But it seems you don’t reply fast enough. My patience is wearing thin, you know, XANXUS-kun?”

The Varia boss growled, not at all pleased - both by the content and the suffix. Yet he remained silent.

Leaning back in his majestic chair, he listened to what the Millefiore boss having to say.

“Tardiness won’t help you win over the throne, only terminating your option. If you don’t make haste, Sawada Tsunayoshi-kun will eventually learn of our…” Thin lips stretched into a creepy smile as the white-haired man uttered the finishing word: “Connection.”

Taking a step closer, Amethyst eyes gazed at the bottle of half-consumed liquor sitting on the nearby table. His smile widened.

“You know, XANXUS-kun, silence is like fine liquor. It’s so sweet and soothing at first until you start to feel it’s getting more and more bitter…”

Crash!

Glass shattered. Shards of sharp, broken piece fell to the floor, catching the candlelight like glittering diamonds as they missed the supposed target. In the glowing light, fiery red eyes met icy violet ones - ferociousness versus deliberately hidden cruelty. And despite all the bloodlust and anger he felt, XANXUS’ lips twitched into a faint smirk.

“The difference between you and Sawada Tsunayoshi…”

He said, taking out his guns, pointing one of them at the other’s temple just as fast as Byakuran’s hand snatched around his throat - sky mare ring glistened dangerously in the flickering light.

“…Is that you’re far more disgusting.”

“Is that your answer?” Byakuran gazed coolly at the Varia boss as that hand around his throat tightened. Ever-piercing violet eyes gleamed with amusement as well as sadistic vibe as he felt the half-breed king’s muscles constrict under his force, feeling his pulse, his lifeblood running under the skin. The Millefiore king leant closer, not caring about the bane pointing at his temple.

A castle was never supposed to have two kings. Just like two tigers were unable to share a den.

“My, my, XANXUS-kun, you really disappoint me.” The white-haired don whispered, his warm breath caressing the other’s ear, making him stiffen. Yet, before he could make any further move…

“That…” Blood-red eyes seemed to blaze with brilliant flame of anger as XANXUS pulled the trigger. “Is my verdict.”

Powerful flame burst out from the guns, blasting completely away the dimness of the room…along with a large chunk of the castle’s wall and parts of the ceiling. Yet…

Such detonating inferno couldn’t burn away the other king as he was still there, pristine as ever.

“Well, I really want to play with you more but…” The white-haired don chirped happily, looking at his communication device - the name on the small monitor read: Shou-chan. “I have duty and things to discuss as boss of Millefiore family, so…”

Piercing Amethyst eyes fixed on the bruise marks he left on the Varia boss’ throat with appreciation.

“I’ll be watching how long you will be able to stay on that throne.”

With a chuckle, the man disappeared from the other’s sight before another shot was fired, leaving behind…the annoying scent of flower XANXUS so hated.

The week after, the only news he got from Millefiore was that Sawada Tsunayoshi was dead.

OMAKE

“ XANXUS-kun, you know, if you stay on that chair far too long, your wonder hole will be permanently close.”  The white-haired don whispered, his warm breath caressing the other’s ear, making him stiffen. Yet, before he could make any further move…

“That…” Blood-red eyes seemed to blaze with brilliant flame of anger as XANXUS pulled the trigger. “Has nothing to do with you, you trash!!!”

Powerful flame burst out from the guns, blasting completely away the dimness of the room…along with a large chunk of the castle’s wall and parts of the ceiling. Yet…

Such detonating inferno couldn’t burn away the other king as he was still there, pristine as ever.

“Well, I really want to help you so…”  The white-haired don chirped happily, looking at his communication device - the name on the small monitor read: Shou-chan approves. “I can help you widen that hole pleasurably, you know?”

Piercing Amethyst eyes fixed on the bruise marks he left on the Varia boss’ throat with appreciation.

“I’ll be gentle so after the treatment you can stay on your chair without feeling much discomfort.”

With a chuckle, the man disappeared from the other’s sight before another shot was fired, leaving behind…the annoying scent of flower XANXUS so hated.

The week after, the only news he got from Millefiore was that Sawada Tsunayoshi supported their marriage.
