-RP-related complaints and crap

1) nostalgia
I've been reading through my my IRC RP logs again.

I miss playing my older characters, but I can't play most of them anymore without some kind of trouble; in the RP's canon several of them are paired with characters of a player who doesn't even talk to me anymore (and would probably ignore me if I even made any attempt to). I don't want to play them as if their family members or significant others have gone missing, nor do I want to retcon the relationships and wind up breaking everything else that the characters have any involvement in.

What really pisses me off about this is the fact that one of my first characters ever-who is arguably one of the most-important characters I have, being the main character of my own storyline-is a victim of this issue.
Am I going to have to say that the RP's canon is an AU to my characters?

tl;dr I shouldn't be put in a position where I feel that I can't play my own characters!
2) exclusion
More-recently, the RPing on IRC has been taking place at times which are either very difficult or outright impossible for me, following groups that I usually have no characters in so even if I am present, I can't do anything without forcing my way in. You know fully well that I am unavailable at some of these times, yet these are the times that you choose to follow the groups I'm actually supposed to be involved in. It makes me feel like you just don't want me to be in the RP anymore.
