well, that was quick

Okay, so I watched stupid Medical Investigation last night while I was babysitting. Pretty much what I expected. Neal is hot. The show suffers greatly from being a total CSI knock-off, complete with "edgy" visual effects that are supposed to take the viewer into the investigator's mind or something. The best parts were the little micro-scenes we ( Read more... )

First off, I commend you on your excellent choice of song - 'Bohemian like you' was one of the first songs I learnt to play on my bass. Ah, many an idle hour was passed in the school common room jamming to that song with my bass, an acoustic guitar, 20 or so voices and a couple of boxes for drums! :D

Secondly - Yay! Neal- lovely lovely young Neal! Hurrah! Now I really want to see that show, if just for him. I can put up with CSI rip-offs, because..Neal!

Thirdly - Yay! France! So pleased you're going! You must take lots of photos and post regularly, or at least write a diary and post it when you get home. You're going to have the best time there!

I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. What I'm going to say now is going to sound horribly cliche and cheesy - but I suppose it's true: one door closes and another opens, and sometimes we change for the better after awful things happen. Last year my Uncle committed suicide, and it was just horrible for a long time, but looking back, the whole family just sort of pulled together, when I think we were really in risk of drifting apart. Truths came out that perhaps weren't what I wanted to hear, but I learnt a lot about my parents, and became closer to them after seeing them in such a vulnerable position.

I'm sure your father would be so pleased and proud of you - that you went through a tough time and came out okay - better than okay. You came out as a bright, positive, intelligent and talented woman, and you know for sure you're strong enough to deal with things now. I bet he's really proud. And I'm sure he'd be happy that your relationship with your Mum has improved too.

It's so weird the way things turn out sometimes isn't it? I know at first it's hard to see, but there's always good things in a situation. I suppose sometimes it takes years to see them, but we do in the end. Anyway, big hugs your way, and I'm really excited for you about your trip to France! Did you say it was Normandy or did I dream that one? Anyway, it's going to be so cool!

You're so my Doc Roe today. Right there with the nice cuppa joe when I didn't even know I needed one. *hugs*

Going chronologically, just because I'm linear like that :-)

Yes, that song is just plain, rollicking fun. I'm impressed that you can play it. Actually, I'm impressed that anyone can play anything. Me, I just pick out Camptown Races on my accordion.

Neal is very yummy, though not looking as young as he once did. But still, very intense, very strapping. The show could go either way--but he's definitely the best thing about it. I'm quite annoyed that although he flirted outrageously throughout my whole dream, he utterly lacked in follow-through skills.

France! Yay! I will see if Jenn will let me borrow her camera. My sister's Internet access is pretty sporadic, so I may not be able to update often, but I'll do my best. I'm only going to be gone a week :-( but still, much better than nothing. And yes, it is in Normandy, you aren't making things up. Not as near to the coast as they used to be, but we'll surely make it out there.

Thanks about my dad--I don't think it's cliched at all. Or, maybe it is, but only because it's true. So sorry to hear about your uncle. That must have been just terrible. But yes, it can have that effect of pulling the family together. And thanks, too, for your very flattering write-up! :-) I'm not altogether clear on what I believe re: the afterlife, but it does seem that he should know we all came through okay.

Wow, deep thoughts for a Friday. On to happier challenges, like my strategy for getting my brother-in-law's nice gay brother propose a marriage of convenience so I can just move in with Marj, Yves, and the kids. Stupid git has turned me down twice. Whatever.
