1.
pdragon76 was here! She's awesome! And made me chili! And had the most memorable reaction to Cold Stone's apple pie ice cream ever. It was so very satisfying. Also? Impressive reactions to Ninja Flip Table. Thanks so much for gracing the hiyakitties and me with your presence. ♥ Thanks for the licorice and other treat you left me. xoxo
2. OMG I saw Flight of the Conchords on Tuesday night! It was so much fun! Bret and Jemaine are brilliant and to be praised and adored. They opened with "Too Many Dicks on the Dance Floor," and everything just escalated from there. No "Business Time" or "The Humans Are Dead," but they played a ton of fun stuff--a couple I'd never heard.
3. School. I'm done with my class! Halfway through the masters degree. On the one hand, Yay! On the other hand, OMG still at least a year and a half to go, ugh. My presentation went pretty well. I'm pleased to announce that I was 90% less procrastinatey this time. I had my paper done a full week ahead of time, finished my annotations on Monday (having done the bulk of them over the course of about two weeks), and finished my handout Tuesday. Then came procrastinatey fun tiems, which was Wednesday afternoon, when I decided to finally prepare my 10-minute presentation. I finished my draft at 4, practiced it once in front of a colleague, mumbled it twice on the train, and then once more at break. Note to self: Four run-throughs does not a flawless presentation make. I'm not too worried, though. The content was there, I just read more of my notes than I should have.
and 4. Marc and I are on a 7:35 flight home for the weekend. Jam-packed weekend with the maternal unit. She's going totally overboard with the details, but it's really quite endearing--it seems like she's making a huge effort to make sure Marc feels like part of the family, and I kinda love her to bits for it. (This opinion subject to revision based on actual results of the weekend.)
So no Show for me tonight. I'll catch up on Sunday. Then next weekend the cats and I move over to Marc's for the rest of May. Wish us nonyowly, diurnal cats.
Right. Must head over to the other side of the Loop to maximize my chances of being able to chase Marc out of his office in time to make our plane.
