Things, Thursday

Dec 14, 2006 23:14

Mainly posting to check out the new update interface. It's weird, but I imagine I'll get used to it just in time for them to change it again. I gotta say, today being Thursday with both no new Supernatural and no likethesun2 stinks. Sigh. It would have been my turn to host, and I would have served her onion jelly on crackers ( Read more... )

supernatural, blah blitty blah, fic, evilcorps

God, tonight was so sad. I, um, instead of watching a new SPN I watched a MARATHON of The Show That Must Not Be Named. And then I got your voicemail and was even sadder.

However, yay for new fic! Do send it along, and I will read it ASAP. Tomorrow, I have decided, is my day of beta-ing. It will help to quell my anxiety while I wait to have ALL MY HAIR CHOPPED OFF in the evening.

I promised to point you at good SN fic, didn't I? Well, iamsab put up a site compiling some of the best of the older stuff, and it's here--some of the links are defunct, but enough are still around to make it useful. It's also mostly slash, but there's some gen and het in there. And here are a couple of fics I've liked enough to rec. (Which means I liked 'em a whole lot, because I'm a lazy reccer.) And... they seem to be mostly slash too, except for one drabble series that runs the gamut. Huh. I'll try to think of more.

There was a marathon of The Show That Must Not Be Named?? Damn. Now I'm even sadder! Though I did gain karma points for babysitting for my friend, and her kid did show me Meerkat Manor, which was really cute, and then I did get to watch the key 30 seconds of "Bloodlust"--remember when we watched "Bloodlust," and Sam was all up in Dean's face, and I said to the TV, "Oh, Sammy, he is so gonna pop you one for--" and then Dean punched him? *sigh* Good times.

You're chopping off all your hair?! Wow, big step. But short hair is very very cute and easy to deal with, and yes, as we know, it will grow back if you don't love it. In the meantime, I graciously present you with 20 or so pages of stuff to read to keep your mind off it :-)

Ah! SN recs! Thank you! *adds to appropriate folder of Favorites*

Okay. Breakfast. Good luck today!

The new update thingy is weird, isn't it? It will take some getting used to, but seems to be working okay for me - I don't really see why everyone has such a problem with it. Lol, we're such old women here, we can't deal with any change!

Sorry about the whole wasted glossary thing - sounds like it's not entirely your fault though.

Will send back comments on the new bit of SPN loveliness later, - lol - it's so funny!
x.

It is weird, but for me it's mostly an issue of finding my userpic. I'm used to thinking about them at the end of an entry. And that search box is weird, but I realized (late) that you can still find them the old drop-down way, and am starting to see the potential in the search thing. I just... I'm old! I like things how I like them. lol.

Thanks about the glossary, but no, in fact, it's entirely my fault. This whole project is an utter disaster--though not all of that is my problem. But I've handled it really badly, and the people who usually back me up have, too, so... BAD.

Thank you for comments! I'm glad you're finding it funny. I went to bed last night thinking, "What the hell was that? Is that funny to anyone outside of my head?" and other things. And then I had yet another idea for a story and had to call my cell phone and leave myself a message about it because I had no pen and/or paper to write it down with. This one is not funny. Poor Sammy :-(

Talk about motivation to go to work... (I, on the other hand, didn't go to work today. I don't have a voice anymore; occupational hazard of the job.)

Sorry about the whole glossary thing. I somehow doubt it's your fault, though. *shrug* (And i don't think you can suddenly be not good at your job anymore. There are simply good and bad days.)

And yei!!! I'll be waiting for that fic of yours! Heh!!!

Hope you have a fun birthday party!

Hoping to post the story tonight--depends on when it gets back from beta.

The not-being-good-at-my-job thing isn't an overnight phenomenon; it's been gradual and the cumulative effects of not giving a rat's ass about what I do is starting to show. Hence the decision to get a new/different degree and find a new line of work :-)

Hope the bday party will be good. Have been gone all weekend and came home to a filthy, cluttered apartment, but I'm so tired I'm not sure I can clean tonight. It'll get done...

:-D

Ok! I'll be keeping my eyes open for the fic!

And yei to you and all new year resolutions! *thumbs up*

And...hey...you're a december child. My dad's birthday's on the 21st December too. Heh!

And the bday party will be fabulous. *nods wisely*

Hiya there! Completely random person, but I got linked here from your Band of Brothers community, and completely flailed when I noticed your Supernatural header. If you love both fandoms, you must pwn. ♥

You didn't have a friending post, so I'm just wondering if you'd mind my friending you? :)

Hello! Please, friend away, and welcome. My journal is getting only minorly more interesting these days, thanks to Supernatural having reawakened my creativity and gotten me writing fic again for the first time in forever. I haven't been active in the BoB fandom for about a year, but it still remains very dear to my heart.

Isn't my header wonderful? I can say that without being stuck up because I didn't make it--my fellow BoB-->SPN fangirl and braintwin cunien made it for me, and I love it to shreds.

Have friended you back, btw. Thanks for dropping by :-)

Actually, I've been pretty inactive in the BoB fandom these last two years too. It's just that the fandom came up again on my friends list, resulting in my making icons/going back to aldbournewhores. It definitely brought back some great memories, but SPN completely owns my soul at this moment. ♥

You have to give her my compliments on the blending - it's gorgeous beyond words. I love how Sam and Dean's faces are sort-of connected, and the dark colours are definitely well-chosen. :)

*is always excited to meet both BoB AND SPN fans*

Oh, I'm right there with you on the soul-ownership.

cunien does some amazing stuff. If you haven't already, you should check her out. She's one of several "second-wave" BoB chicks active in SPN fandom right now. I'm so pleased that so much of my little corner of that fandom has migrated to a new fandom that owns our souls as well.

Let's see... There's liptonrm, to whom I introduced BoB and who made me her SPN crack whore in return. And likethesun2, and damson, and cunien, of course. septicemic is abroad and mostly offline recently, but I understand she's One of Us, too. I know I'm missing people... Anyway, we are not alone :-)
