Spent the afternoon (after a fairly pointless morning of wandering through a town where every single thing was closed) watching Joyeux Noël, starring--briefly and in true BoB secondary-character-played-by-somewhat-obscure-actor fashion--Robin Laing. He is the first person onscreen, rushing adorkably into church to find his brother and announce to him that--hooray!--there's a war on! Finally, something worthwhile is happening! And so (offscreen) they sign up and head off to France to halt the Hun, and the very next time he shows up onscreen, he gets good and properly shot. He does have some nice dying words to his brother, and makes several posthumous appearances as a frozen corpse in No Man's Land. I should have known. Anyway, he was very very cute for his five minutes of screen time.
Right. Must help with dinner and/or read to my niece. We finished The Silver Chair last night and are moving onto The Horse and His Boy.
