fun with blood and other November thoughts

Tonight at the blood bank (technically, a year-long Monday night blood drive at a local church, but 20 miles less driving than my regular blood center) a girl at the apres-bloodletting table passed out while eating her animal crackers and bled all over the place. Or maybe she started bleeding all over the place and then passed out. I'm not sure about the chronology. I thought she just threw up and then passed out, but no, blood and lots of it. Never seen that one before. The nurses were all really on edge afterwards, though. I'm one of the sturdiest blood donors on the face of the planet, but I freaked a nurse out because apparently I got this vacant expression and looked like I was going to pass out. In actuality I was trying to read the little promo design on my squeezy-fist thing. I really need to get my glasses' prescription updated. And then buy those frames I tried on last month that don't make my face go numb because I am sick and tired of that.

In other news, it's freezing in my apartment. Two weeks ago, when it was all warm and toasty out still, my heaters all went into overdrive. Now that temps are peaking out in the 40s and down near freezing at night, my radiators are mysteriously not working. Have spent last three days messing with them and then giving up and huddling in various warmish corners covered in blankets and cats.

In even more news, people at my work are stupid. I know you don't believe me, but it's true.

Must go try to thaw my feet in the bathtub before retreating to my bed, thanking my mother all the way for buying me that heated mattress pad when I moved here.

weather whinge, blah blitty blah
