The Vortex, live and in person

Well, okay, not in person, but on a really big screen. I went downtown to see Green Street Hooligans tonight. As a prelude, they really should have stuck with either Green Street or The Yank for a title. Oh well.

It was good, though there was more spitting of blood and teeth than I generally like in my movies. Elijah was great (sigh... his skin: best skin ever) and very sexy in his zip-up sweaters. Yum. And then the Vortex exploded right before my eyes (none of this is news to anyone here, of course). Because Marc Warren (BoB and Hustle) was his brother-in-law, and Ross McCall (BoB) was one of the main secondary guys. Both were excellent, though Marc had much more of an actual character arc than Ross did.

I think my favorite thing about the movie, other than its Vortexian beauty, was these little flashes you got of these guys life outside of their firm. The one they play for the most shock value (to greatly amusing effect) is the lead guy's "real" life, but the one that made me bite my tongue to keep from squeeing aloud was Ross's character showing up in an airline pilot's uniform. Dead sexy. And then later there were a couple of lingering shots of him in a black wifebeater. Arms: very very good. There were also several very Liebgottian winks, which warmed my heart.

All in all, it was the bright spot in a fairly stupid weekend. I can't say I got nothing done, because I've made large amounts of progress on my Sekrit Fandom Project (though have made negative progress on my DiH story) and today Debbie and I made a couple of minor changes to the book and sent it off to another agent who asked to see the whole thing. But my laundry remains unfolded.

And I have an author coming in tomorrow afternoon and have to go out to dinner with him and a bunch of people from work, and then Tuesday I'm running his launch meeting all day. And I have to look all professional and together and stuff, and I have no idea what I'm going to wear or what's up with my hair these days. AND my boss is back in the office for the first time in three weeks. Between the sales meeting the frist week in August, my vacation, his vacation, and his father's sudden death, I haven't seen him in six weeks. Here's hoping he doesn't look at the state of the Two Evil Projects of Doom and fire me.

vortex, my lazy ass, movies, blah blitty blah
