And now I owe EvilCorps an apology

You know, I bitch a lot--incessantly, some would say--about my job, which is to say about the ginormous corporation for which I work. And, yes, there are many many many annoying things about it, which I'm not going to harp on now.

Because I just went out to Second Harvest and the American Red Cross to make a Katrina-relief donation to one or the other (Second Harvest is a food bank program--people in Katrina's wake are going to start starving soon) and then remembered that my company made a special matching gift program for tsunami relief last year.

So I poked HR, and they poked me back. Sure enough, not half an hour ago there was a link posted on our corporate intranet letting employees know that a matching gift fund as been set up for Hurricane Katrina relief. Red Cross donations only for the time being, but that'll work. Downloaded the matching gift form, wrote my check to the Red Cross, copied and faxed it and my form, mailed the check, and now my donation is twice as big (or one half as small).

So, thank you EvilCorps. In recognition, I redub you NiceCorps for the entire month of September. Even when I'm ranting about my job.

nice people rule, real world, evilcorps, nicecorps
