What a past few days… where do I even start?
I just dropped Jenn off at the airport, she’s heading home after spending a few days here with me. Good times… I’ll elaborate below. It was also my birthday, I also committed to buy a condo in Stamford with my dad, and after 18 weeks my CPA application finally got reviewed (although not without new problems).
Stupid NASBA CPA people after 18 weeks tell me (after I hounded them through various sources) that they’ve reviewed my application and I’m missing a 3 credit law class that I need. However, I did take the class that they are saying is missing, and I can only assume they lost my NCC transcript because that was the only class pertaining to my requirements that I needed off that transcript. Hopefully I don’t have to wait much longer to get a response from there because its getting really close for the may testing window deadline. ARG!
On the bright side, I got tremendous support from my firm when I told them about my battles with NASBA and my wait. I reached out to a senior partner who works 80 hour weeks routinely, and not only did he take the time to write emails and give a real thorough response, but he also connected me with the manager of PwC’s CPA Compliance program that made calls on my behalf and got the ball rolling. Don Favre (the partner) is a real class act good guy. It makes me proud to be part of a firm with top management like that.
Ok, so that’s all the bad news I have. Smooth sailing from here on...
I didn’t do anything super spectacular for my birthday, but it definitely one of the better ones I can remember in recent years. We thought it was going to be the only day without rain this weekend, so Jenn and I headed down to the beach in the morning. She had just got in from Syracuse the night before and had never seen the ocean, so it was a nice way to start the day even though the beach was freezing and we were the only ones there. It was fun. We drove around after that for a little while, stopped at the mall for a bit, watched a movie at home then went out to a hibachi grill with my family for dinner. Oh man, they put this weird samurai helmet/hat on me at the grill and sang the birthday song... so embarrassing.. :-p
Anyone else see the smallville season finally? It wasn’t so much a cliffhanger as it usually is, it was more of just the bad guys won and um… to be continued. Can’t wait to see how they reverse this one, Clark is pretty screwed.
But back to the main story! We headed out to Farmingdale the next day and had some white castle. I’m glad Jenn liked it and didn’t claim I poisoned her like Michelle did the first time she had white castle lol. We went to Dave and Buster’s afterwards to play some air hockey. So we get there and both get $5 cards. Now, $5 usually lasts you like 2-3 games in that place, but they had some kinda glitch in their card swiping system that day, and just about every game in the place cost .1 points to play (our cards had 21 points for $5). It was pretty awesome. We played game after game for hours just swiping away like no tomorrow. It was like those birthday parties when you were a kid and you rent out the arcade and just play everything for free. It got to a point where we just got tired out of all the games after like 3 hours and decided to cash in the masses of tickets we had acquired. And just as we said that… all the card swipers reset to the correct prices like magic. It was pretty strange. I got a lightsaber with my tickets, and Jenn got a buncha souvenirs from her trip here. We also hit up the driving range there, drove to the Amityville horror house, and got some dinner with Michelle before heading home for the night.
What else happened Friday you ask? I put in a bid for a Condo in Stamford… and I got it! Looks like I’ll be living on the 12th floor of the Biltmore right there in downtown. I was pretty happy about that, but I expect that happiness will be subdued once I sit down with the mortgage writer haha. How its going to work is that my dad is loaning me the down payment, and I will be making the monthly mortgage payments and it will be in my name. When we sell I give him back his down payment and 60% of the profits. I mean the actual deal we worked out between us is a little more in depth and we wrote it out and all, but that’s the gist of it.
The Place:
www.biltmorecondo.com Saturday we went to go visit my mom at the fair she was doing over at the old train in Wantagh, and while we were there we walked around in the woodsy area behind it for a while. Now I know what your thinking… “Paul, you don’t do things in woods, you like to sit and watch TV and stuff! Common..”. Your right, I’m not Mr. nature, but I really enjoyed my time with Jenn here and her company and I would have a good time with her no matter what we did. It was particularly nice out too, and I’m really glad we were able to do that, it was a nice change of pace. We did more then just that Saturday, but I don’t want to just list out my whole weekend… that would make for an even more boring post then this already is :-p
