the cop is hot, as the cops always are

+ I found this site while Googling to see if I could upgrade the RAM on my netbook (an HP Mini 1001TU). And someone else has done it, too! And, after a 0.27-second search on Google, it turns out someone’s put together an entire list of hackintosh-able netbooks! Where have I been for the whole existence of this? I was aware of partitioning iMacs so they could run Windows as well (they do that in the Comp Sys labs at uni) but I had no idea it could work the other way as well. Then I was like, “Can *I* do that?” because I want a MacBook Pro but can’t afford it (yet), so what’s the next best thing? Surely a netbook running Mac OSX!

Apart from the fact that I have no idea about the more intricate details of using a computer i.e. anything other than Word + internet + processing photos and a mediocre knowledge of Photoshop, I do have the whole of December free…

+ I put off watching Lip Service so I could study before I went to work today. So worth the wait, it was hysterical! Maybe it’s because I’m hysterical over exams, but the only other show I laugh that hard with is Warehouse 13. It’s pretty refreshing to hear a show full of Scottish accents that are actually intelligible. Also, tall blonde hipster chicks, yay.

I shall direct all to lysachan’s most delightful picspam recap, as she always does it best. I just hope there isn’t some loopy investigative storyline that pops up halfway through the season about Frankie’s dead aunt. That would just be incredibly L Word of it.

+ We hand in the second project tomorrow! I am so amped. I sent a copy to the boys last night asking them to read it and answer a few questions I had, and followed up this evening when I was at work. One of them replied, “Um I think as long as you have a reference for it it’ll be fine,” which wasn’t really what I said in my email at all. So I insisted that he read it over and check, and we proceeded to engage in a very productive conversation and clarified matters and I think improved the end product! I felt like saying, ”See what happens when you guys stop trusting and relying on me so much? Now we can hand something in that has a chance of making up for the disaster of a proposal in which you all relied on me!”

Only 9 more days before I’ll have nothing to do with those boys ever again! They say dissertation ruins friendships. Well, we weren’t really friends before and we got along fine during, but I think dissertation has definitely ruined any future working relationship I may have with boys. I don’t suppose working with girls would be any better.

Speaking of dissertation, my oral exam is on Tuesday, after which I will be holding a ceremonial burning of the document. I thought you were supposed to be proud of these things, but every time I look at it I die a little inside. I'm currently deciding between boiling the papers on the stove and then stomping all over the soft, mushy bits, or purchasing a Bic (or even a Zippo, I’ve always wanted one) lighter and doing it the conventional way. The second way won’t allow me to stomp all over them because the ashes will just float away in the wind (this in-depth thinking brought to you courtesy of exam procrastination).

Let’s have a poll:
Poll stove or lighter?

It just occurred to me that I probably need some special fire-making permit to burn things other than meat on a barbie / in a fireplace. I have neither. Hmm.

television: lip service, school: i know all the drug dealer jokes
