Dad was a knee-jerk Republican.
My identification with the Left only really came about as a result of
him becoming sick, but armed with all of these ideas I was unable to
argue my points with him, since, due to getting sick, he could no
longer defend his own points.
My father proclaimed himself to be the greatest land-navigator of all time.
My father got lost.
a Lot.
He passed on to me a love of Tabasco Sauce and taking off one's pants
as soon as they get home. There are many, many people who'd like to
thank him for that.
My father used to say that the only difference between rape and rapture was the presentation.
He had a point, but it's a pretty horrid scenario.
I'm saying all this in the interest of full disclosure; Joseph Clyde Foster did not know everything.
But.
He said to me "94% of all worry never comes to pass. The other 6% you can't do a damn thing about."
Two dear souls are undergoing procedures today and I want them to know
how much time-and-experience-tested gravity I put on this sentiment. It
is the closest thing I have to prayer, and i offer it to them, my faith
in numbers, my Lord's Prayer of statistical analyisis.
Whatever transpires, I know you'll be okay.
