My name is Sakudo Momo, and I hate life! Why? I'm stuck in the hospital for 10 years straight with this sickness of mine. It's not like I hated life ever since I was born, I DID enjoy life before, with all my friends and cousins. Until my illness was discovered when I was eight. The doctors said I have anemia and I need to change my bone marrow but up till now... They found no suitable donor. And my white blood cell was near to the same amount as my red blood cells. If it goes further or even lose any red blood cells... I will die.
Why?! Why do I have to get this sickness?! There were tonnes of people out there, far worseby attitudethan me! Yet! They got to play outside... I too, was allowed but at certain times only because they need to monitor the excessive production of WBCs. That's why, all my friends left me. They couldn't bear the responsibility when something happens to me while I was with them. I hate life! Why do I have to suffer this loneliness?! Why couldn't I just die that day! The day they found out my sickness. The day where I first thrown to this 'prison'. Why didn't I just disappear? My parents wouldn't have to go all that trouble of trying to pay my medical fees! They would be happier if I die on the spot!
It's August 9 now, my 10th year being in the hospital. I was looking outside my window which was at the 10th floor where I saw the busy highways and heard the honks of the cars. I sigh... Tomorrow will be my 18th birthday. And once again... There will be a mini celebration made by the nurses and staffs while my parents just working all day. They're gonna miss it this year again.
Just when I looked away from the window, I heard a huge ruckus. All the doctors and nurses were rushing down the hallway and to the ground floor. I've overheard one of the patients said, "I've heard that the drummer got into an accident!"
"Uso?! That cool and cheerful drummer of that group?!" another patient exclaimed. And they continued on gossiping. At the moment where I wanted to stop eavesdropping, I heard my name was being said.
"When the doctors rushed him into the operating room, one of them ordered the nurses to prepare a room for him! Somewhere in this floor!! Hope he won't be with Momo-san. Her gloomy-ness will definitely bring his cheerfulness down and made the situation worse,"
I sigh and went onto the bed. The medicine that the doctors gave finally took its effect.

I was sleeping soundly until some noises woke me up.
"Yuto! Are you sure you're okay?!" a cute voice asked. The voice must belongs to a cute, cupid type of guy I pressume.Despite his cute voice, it still anoys me and did wake me up.
"Now... We need a person with blood type A... Daiki, Yabu-kun and Inoo-chan were abroad shooting their dramas... Aarrgghh! What to do?!" another person shouted which kinda irritated me in someways. I sat up, couldn't bear the noises,and opened the white curtains that seperates me and that Yuto guy. I glared. They were three of them, probably around my age and I assumedthat the one on the bed is Yuto-as what they called based on the conversations.
"Can you three quiet down? It was a rare chance for me to sleep well and you, have to ruin it. You want a person with blood type A? Well, My blood type is A. Go ahead and ask the doctors to transfer it!" I blowedup. It somehow really irritates me as if they were still... Kids!
The one on the bed, Yuto, had his eyes glistened, "Really?! Thank You! Yama-chan! Chii! Call the doctor!" At that moment, I just ignore himand recalled something. The doctor once said if I lose anymore blood, I'll die. Well... I was asking for death and this was my chance, why let it go? Then, I realized that both of hiswristwere bandanged.
He realized that I was staring at his bandages and smiled softly, "Someone stabbed both of my hands and caused it to bleed. Now, I need blood to continue playing drums... Wait! Don't you suppose to know me?"
"So... Playing drums are like part of your life... I see. Know you? Of course I know you. You're Nakajima Yuto of Hey!Say!JUMP right? I see you and your group everyday in the TV," I replied without looking at him.
"Yup! Drums are part of my life! That's why I'm really grateful -" I think he was trying to say thank you, but the doctors rushed in. Weird. Without any equipments and nurses. Just... Themselves. Instead of checking Yuto there, they were staring right at me.
"Momo! What are you thinking? Suicide?! You know that if you lose anymore blood will be very lethal to you!!!" one the doctors spilled. I cussed. I didn't actually wanted Yuto to know that. And I know, that Yuto was bewildered and feeling all guilty currently.
I retorted, "So? It's my decision! Plus, he wanted to play his instruments! While I wanted... Nothingbut to die! I bet! My blood wouldn't like being with me!! I'm tired already! Just-" For the next moment, I didn't what just happened and when I came to my senses, my cheek was stinging. I looked up. To see who just slapped me. It was...Yuto.
"Don't say those words!!!! No matter what! Even at the last moments! Never give up hope!! In every corner of life, there's always hope to help! And now! You chose to ignore that hope and give up!! If I receive blood from this kind of person! I will strongly refuse and prefer to wait until the right person wouldcome. Sorry for the troubles doctors. She won't be donating any blood." Yuto shouted and I could see tears at the end. I kept silent-speechless. The whole room was silent. The doctors and the two guys quietly left, leaving both Yuto and I alone. He got up and left the room too.
His words. Were like daggers that shot right through me. It's true. Hope was there but I chose to ignore it!!! I couldn't stand it anymore. Tears continued flowing out from my eyes. What he said was so true that it's painful!
In the midst of my cries, I felt someone was sitting beside me. I turned my hidden face and saw Yuto with his apologetic smile. Without wasting a further second, he hugged me while patting my back. I don't know why, more tears escaped until it soaked his shirt.
"I'm sorry for shouting earlier on. Actually... My...girlfriend, Hayu... Ah...Never mind. Just remember. Never give up hope. And I've heard from the doctors... They said, you have anemia and had a malfunctioned bone marrow. Is it true?" He asked sincerely... No sign of pity. For some people, if there's no pity means that they are cruel but for me, it might shows that the person actually cared for you especially when it comes to this kind of situations.
I nodded and continued, "They found out 10 years ago.... On this date. That's the time when I thought of life differently. My friends started shunning me, parents started to get tired of paying. I ended up alone in this ward. Everyday was so tiring that I couldn't bear it anymore. When tomorrow comes, everything will repeat once again,"
"Why tomorrow?"
"Because... That's my birthday,"
He seemed shocked. I wonder why. I then found out that my tears stopped flowing. I wiped away any residue and continued staring at the startled Yuto.
"It's my birthday too…! Majide?! We are born at the same day?! Ahh~!! Is this fate?!" Yuto said happily as started shaking my hands. I blinked, trying to register his words but yet my brain couldn’t comprehend it.
"Why don't we go out tomorrow?!"
"EH?!!!! Wait… I can't.. because…" I didn't want to be with a star during my birthday!! It'll cause a ruckus! Even a huge fuss!! It'll make it worse! What should I say to refuse that offer…
"Ah! Didn't you hear my story earlier? I'm not allowed to go out~ They need to monitor on my conditions…" I said… hoping that he'll buy for it. He kept silent and went out quietly that it scares me. How many times already he exited and entered that one door within half anhour?! 3?
Oh make it four, he came back. I was surprised since he came back with all smiles. He then shoved a peace sign to me. Eh? What is he trying to say? Or do? The words that he said later was shockingly shocking.
"The doctor said okay!!!!!!!!"
I gaped. Tongue-tied. I froze, already imagined the horror... When all the fangirls found out about this. I shivered at that thought. Yuto was still oblivious about the consequences. Ah! These easy going idols! They get to say whatever they want as if they wouldn't have any troubles saying so. I got so nerve wrecked that I covered myself with the blanket.
What?! Going out with an idol who have the same brithdate as me? The doctors even said okay?!? When they refused 9 times?! What will happen if any fangirls found out? Worse! What if his agency or even the papparazi found out! Just then, I realized something.
"Ne... Aren't you in need of blood?"
Yuto's answer was, "Hm? Ah! Yabu-kun will be back by tonight and he said that he will give part of his blood by today!"
Wow... What a strong friendship, they're willing to help each other. Unlike mine! Urgh. Just thinking about it fumes me. How I wish that I have such friends... Then, a nurse came in and 'fake' sadly informed, "Sorry Momo. I don't think we can celebrate your 18th birthday..."
I ignored her. I've already expected this. The nurse left immediately after stealing a glance of Yuto. Tsk. That nurse purposely came in and say that just to see Yuto. It wouldn't be a surprise if she also kinda hates and jealous of me because I'm in the same ward at him. I sighed.
"Oi! How long are you going to stay in bed?! You'll feel worse! Come on! Change into these!" he said. Then I heard rumbles. I sat up and saw him rummaging into my closet!!!
"B-Baka!!!!" I shouted and jumped off the bed just to stop him. Yuto finally realised what he was actually going to commit later, he blushed a little and apologised. I sighed for another time and shoved him out from the room. I need to change. Wait! Did I just agree to go out?! Argh! Stupid me!
Once I'm done, it was is turn to change and when he's done, we went out. He brought me to meet up his friends,Yamada Ryosuke and Chinen Yuri. At first, they felt awkward especially what just happened in the ward. After a few talks, we got along. Out of the blue, Ryosuke invited Yuto and I to go to the game centre just to release a bit of tension. And I agreed to it. Well, I do need to let go a bit of stress.
And off we go, it wasn't that far from the hospital so, it's kinda okay. Plus, they have tons of games to play!! I really liked going to the game centre, especially playing the basketball shooting. Due to my over excitement, I challenged Ryosuke to it since he said he was a pro.
"You Lose!" the game computer said. I smirked at the frozen Ryosuke, unable to admit his defeat. He lost to me! Yay! My skills were still with me. Then, Yuri challenged me. And for the second time in a row, I win although it was a tough one because Yuri adjust to the game quite well even for his first time.Yuto's turn next, he said if he wins, I have to follow his orders and he loses, he'll do whatever I commands.
Wow, fair deal but the way he puts it was like, he was confident and sure that he'll win. Huh! Let's find out!
"You Win!"
I gaped. My jaw dropped. For the first time, a guy defeated my score. 480 - 520. Yuto was smiling widely like a naïve kid, while Ryosuke was sneering down on me. Yuri just patted my back just to comfort me. So, basically now, I need to follow his orders?! Nooooooo!!!!! Suddenly, 3 girls approached us. And they're fidgeting? Probably nervous to see them. Since these three boys are usually in the spotlight.
"Anoo... You guys are Nakajima Yuto, Chinen Yuri and Yamada Ryosuke, right? Kyaa! Can we shake your hands and sign?" the girl in the middle said sheepishly. Of course, the boys agreed to it. Then, the girl on the right asked who am I. I got flustered and tongue-tied. Yuto 'normally' answered that I'm his distant cousin. The girls seem to buy it. After they were out of sight. I sighed in a relief and thanked Yuto for his fast thinking.
He grinned, "Douitashimashite. Ah! Since you lost to me,you need to go out with me tomorrow! We'll celebrate each others' birthday!!"
I made and hid my annoyed face. I have no choice but to say yes. But! He added on,"Oh! You need to address me as your master! And you'll become my butler!"
If Ryosuke and Yuri seen my forehead carefully, they could see veins popping out, which was quite visible. What is he?! A sadist?! Anime-Freak?
"Understood. Young Master..." I said nonchalantly while gritting my teeth. When he heard that, he smiled contentedly. HE! IS! A! SADIST!!
For the next few hours, it felt like years. Three of us got so close and became like old friends. Just by being with Yuto… all my gloominess just - vanished. Sadly it came back when another girl approached us. She was quite tall for her age but not as tall as Yuto. Just over Ryosuke's height. She came with a sad smile on her face. But I can't help to feel that something was wrong with that smile. As if there's a trick of deceiving or something.
"Mitsuki? What are you doing here?!" Yuto asked with a shock. She knew this girl? For a moment there, I think I saw her glaring at me before looking back to Yuto with that fake sad face of hers. That confirms it! Something was up in her sleeves.
"Yuto… Are you going to Hayu's death anniversary tomorrow?" she asked and Yuto didn't answer, he looked flustered and troubled by that statement. The girl called Mitsuki pestered him by asking the same question again despite Ryosuke's and Yuri's efforts to stop her. Finally, Yuto answered No, before grabbing my wrist and exited the area.
"Hayu… That reminds me, you mentioned her name this morning…" I mumbled to myself. Not expecting Yuto to hear it, but he heard it. He sighed and explained that, Hayu who was also his ex-girlfriend died because of a heart attack. That day, the day that Hayu died was on his birthday itself. He went to her house just to celebrate it together. But, when he's there, he saw Hayu lying on the floor panting. Yuto acted on emotion and searched for the medicine but Hayu refused to. She told Yuto that she wanted to stop the attack herself. Of course, it failed. Even so, Yuto knew that Hayu already gave up of living. On that day itself, he cried for hours until he had no tears left to be shed.
That's the reason why Yuto hates people giving up.
"Ne… You can ignore the fact that it is my birthday tomorrow, just visit Hayu's grave~" I smiled softly, knowing that this was my choice. He smiled back, and shook his head, "No. I promised you. So I have to abide my promise…"
Aargh… That smile and voice of his… it just mesmerised me… I'm scared. I'm scared that I'm falling for this guy! Little did I realized that Mitsuki was behind me glaring. Why does she keeps glaring at me?!
Next morning…
Yuto told me to wait for him downstairs first and I did wait for him. Suddenly, an unexpected encounter aroused. Mitsuki was now right in front of me. Smirking, looking at me from head to toe.
"You… have no right to steal Yuto away from Hayu. What makes you think you have? You see~ Yuto and Hayu was together like about 3 years?! And they will be together once again!" She shouted like a maniac. Be together once again?! What does she means?!
Just then, Yuto was out and all of the sudden, that Mitsuki girl charged towards Yuto!!! WITH A PENKNIFE! Without thinking twice, I sprinted towards Yuto and the next thing I know it… the knife was stabbed to me. Weirdly… There's no pain to it. Well… until that Mitsuki pulled the knife off me. The pain was quite searing.
"MOMO!" Yuto shouted in surprise.
Then, blackout….

Beep! Beep! Beep!
Urgh! What's that annoying sound?!
Slowly, I squinted opened my eyes. Only to see white ceilings and a huge furball on my left. After blinking a few time for my eye to adjust to the environment, I realised that I'm back to old ward. I shifted a bit, which woke Yuto up. I paused. He rubbed his eyes. And when he was done, in a millisecond, he hugged me! I was so shocked that my eyes went wide. And the hug grew tighter as I tried to release myself. After a few seconds I realised that my shirt was damp.
Is he crying?
"You made me worried! When you blacked out! It reminded me of Haru. Don't you know how scared I was?! How worried?! I was afraid that the history was going to repeat itself!" he mumbled like a kid. All I could do was to pat his back and replied with a smile, "Haha… Sorry for making you worry. I'm not going anywhere~"
He finally released his hug and asked, "Really?" I nodded. Yuto then added, "Then let me seal that promise of yours!"
Eh? Before anything could register in my mind, his lips already locked onto mine. Sealing the promise that I just made, that I'm going to keep for the rest of my life.
When the kiss broke, I was blushing… quite red until I realised something, "Wait… Who donated their blood to me?"
Yuto sheepishly pointed to himself. I sighed then roared, "YUTOOOO!!!!! YOU JUST RECEIVED IT AND NOW YOU GIVE IT?!"
