I've broken every bone and fought through what felt never-ending.
I thought my head was made of sadness, my heart is mending.

Personality: He's nice to a fault. You'd be hard pressed to find a nicer guy than Takeshi. He's rarely seen without a smile and is almost constantly laughing, light and jovially, most of the time at nothing in particular. Takeshi is charming and sweet, if not a little daft in the head. He's very generous and easy to like (or hate) because of the happy front he always shows to the public. The teenager can always be counted on to give a helping hand (even if he may botch up his act of charity, depending on what it is).

Despite how cheerful he looks, Takeshi hides a deep inner sadness and sometimes falls into fits of depression without anyone ever noticing. Even though he grew up as a popular kid in school, Takeshi never felt like he fit in. People liked him for the handsome looks he gained as he grew older, or for the skills he displayed on the baseball field, but mostly they respected or feared him due to his father's position (see Background below) and they never really bothered to get to know the boy for who he was. He lacks confidence in himself when it comes to much in life apart from baseball (which is his favorite thing in the whole world) and worries that he'll be completely useless if he ever loses his prodigious talents at playing the game. He really is a master at hiding this, though, and does generally seem very happy.

Just because he wasn't too successful in the "making friends" department at his old school, doesn't mean he doesn't try. Takeshi wants friends - lots of them - and is very attached to the few important people he already has in his life. He is also more than willing to put himself in harm's way if it means protecting them. Being a very athletically-oriented person gives Takeshi exceptional physical strength, coordination, and reaction-time. He'll dedicate his entire being to getting stronger and overcoming any weaknesses he discovers; anything to protect the people he cares about.

Though he may come off as an oblivious idiot, Takeshi comprehends dangerous situations with an assassin's instincts and is capable of reacting both defensively and offensively accordingly while remaining calm. He has a very strong will and a seriousness hidden behind his goofy exterior that is so rarely seen that most think it only a myth. Most of the time, Takeshi will keep whatever his true feelings are bottled up tight, even feelings of physical exhaustion or pain, so as to not worry his friends. When he deems necessary, he will take charge and point out to someone that they are behaving in a poor manner; after all, even Takeshi can only take so much of friends hurting themselves or others with poor behavior or bad decisions before he has to take matters into his own hands. When it comes down to it, he's actually quite good at being blunt with painful truths, though he'd much rather avoid such situations entirely.

Background: Takeshi's origin begins in Japan. His parents were always kind and traditional. Though they lived amongst muggles, they kept in contact with other witches and wizards and had fairly powerful magic. Nothing extraordinary, however.
His mother married into the Shigure Souen (Blue Swallow) mafia family which was led by Takeshi's father. Though a bit silly at times, he was a lot more serious than his wife, especially when dealing with business.

Their life progressed calmly, with Takeshi's birth bringing his father great delight as he gained a potential heir, until the sudden murder of Takeshi's mother when he was six. A rival Family had attempted to kill Takeshi (thus removing the Shigure Souen's blood heir and weakening the Family) but instead the boy's mother was killed and he was left with a deep scar on his chin. This didn't happen with a dramatic magic showdown of flashing wands and spells; rather, his mother was murdered out on the streets after being threatened at gunpoint. Takeshi's scar came from him falling during the scuffle and cutting his chin on broken glass that, ironically came from a sake bottle smashed over the assassin's head by Takeshi's mother. The assailant was knocked out and Takeshi was saved. His mother was not.

The mark on his face stayed a reminder of his mother as he grew up with his father. If anything, the man became more strict and less trusting of others after his wife's death. Takeshi was taught the ways of the Japanese mafia, with the assumption that he would one day take over the Shigure Souen Family in his father's stead. It was certainly of interest to him, but what he really grew to love was baseball. He spent hours every day practicing his swing and his pitch over the years, and played with whoever would give him time of day. Using his societal influence (being a mafia boss has certain advantages), his father was able to have a baseball team organized at Takeshi's last wizarding school, much to the boy's delight.

Even though Takeshi could have anything he might possibly want, he never became one to ask for things. The only thing he really wanted was true friends, which he could never seem to find. He was content enough, though, with having few possessions of his own and living quietly, playing baseball and learning swordsmanship from his father. After mastering the Shigure Souen style, Takeshi was gifted with a special heirloom sword called Shigure Kintoki. This weapon, which transforms from a shinai into a blade only when used with Shigure Souen style, was given to those who mastered the style as a sign of their skill. Just one successor was ever chosen to be worthy of the blade by the previous master, and Takeshi was the latest. It is known to be a deadly style, and rumored to be invincible. Takeshi learned the first eight forms from his father and has already created several of his own in addition to them.

Despite his dedication to the Shigure Souen Family and the art of the sword, many other mafia members tended to focus on Yamamoto's silly attitude and constant smiles and laughs - he didn't appear serious about taking over the Family, and some didn't think he was worthy either. How could such a goofball son ever fill the shoes of his powerful father and keep control over the mafia families? The baseball-lover was given the nickname Oowarai by his Family, meaning "burst of laughter." Some used it in affection, others derisively. As Takeshi's teenage years rolled by, tension continued to grow within the main Family and its branches.

It was directly after Takeshi's 3rd year in wizarding school that another attempt was made to take his life, this time in his own home. He may have seemed oblivious, but Takeshi was fully aware of exactly what had transpired and worried more for his father than himself. Seeing no other option, Takeshi's father decided to have his son sent to school abroad while he settled things back in Japan. For Takeshi's safety, of course.

And thus shall begin the new chapter of Takeshi's life, at Hogwarts! Don't worry; he's very good with English as his second language, even if he might pretend not to be sometimes.

I scream at sunsets, I give applause to what I can't control,
then somehow laugh at how the moon divides an ocean's soul.
But I wanna be that ocean, I wanna shine like that, I wanna smile so big.
