It takes months, long, agonizingly long months before Jinki learns to trust Minho again. For now, he lets Minho shower him with affectionate confessions. Well, not exactly that affectionate- there’s still this tiny hint of hesitation in Minho’s voice, whenever he compliments the other.
Now, those lips are extremely well known, hair so familiar in touch, voice dear, ringing in Minho’s ears just about anytime.
But all those things are rarely accessible these days.
Apart from the voice that he has a privilege to hear rather often. Though it’s not the voice, it’s not the voice soothing him with tender words or passionate exclaims of his name.
It’s a cagey, aloof voice, sounding painfully strange to Minho’s ears.
One day, Minho receives a letter. It’s an invitation to Taemin’s wedding.
The very same day, Minho says a sincere ‘I love you’ to Jinki for the first time.
It’s not perfect. It will never be.
Sometimes he wonders if he couldn’t get to this point without destroying the lives of three persons.
Sometimes he even ponders on starting everything anew, in a different city, under a different name.
Sometimes he can’t tell if he’s happy with what he has, he doesn’t know if he should treat Jinki like this. If he deserves the latter’s attention and patience.
Then his thoughts go to Taemin and some Choi Jinri and he thinks that, yeah, he should spoil Jinki with all he’s got. Apparently, it wasn’t as hard for Taemin as it was for him, hence his quick marriage.
But then, there come times, rather rarely but still- times when he lays awake, not able to screw up his eyes. At times like this, he often remembers one of Taemin’s last words directed to him.
‘The world’s not enough.’
Yeah, Minho thinks, it’s not enough. Not anymore.
He just doesn’t know if he’s able to handle the whole universe.

I had a problem thinking of the title, so I just did what I often do- rummaged through the songs of some of my favourite bands, and I found 'Ashtray Heart' by Placebo... it seemed to fit^^
And, just so you know- when I posted the prologue, I had NO IDEA how it was going to end. It was just a spur of moment, I didn't think too much before posting it. Only after that I started planning the whole plot. And I was REALLY conflicted. I didn't want Jinki to be hurt and yet it seemed more fair to make 2Min end up together. But then, I thought that Taemin is such kind of a character that is strong enough to move on. Idk, I could talk more about this, but I just hope I made the right choice.
OMG I still can't believe I finished it. And, when I think of the reason why I wrote this, it makes me wanna laugh dumbly. Really, it took this for me to write this story.
